I stared down at his messy handwriting. I had a feeling I knew who had a hand in this. Especially since my sister had been working for him for about a week now, and Liam adored her.

“Who’s it from?” Veronica asked.

“Nosy,” I teased.

She grinned. “Gimme the gossip!”

“Logan.”

Her eyebrows rose high. “Oh. I’m surprised he’s going against Blaise’s wishes.”

It was my time to raise an eyebrow at her. She clamped a hand over her mouth as she realized what she said. “V, what did Blaise say to Logan?”

“That you were off-limits.”

What the heck? Is that why Logan got so weird after we kissed? Because my friend’s man told him to stay away? I liked Blaise, but he had no right to tell Logan that.

“Logan says he can’t have something serious because of Liam, so Blaise told him that to protect you,” Veronica explained.

I sighed. “V, I don’t have time for something serious either.”

She eyed the flowers. “Did something happen when you watched Liam?”

“It was nothing,” I said, hoping that if I brushed her off, she’d drop it.

It was nice Logan sent flowers and apologized, but I probably overreacted. It hurt that he thought I was looking for a relationship with him. I didn’t have time for that either. I wasn’t sure I even had time for a one-night stand. When Liam woke up and interrupted us, it was a sign that I couldn’t even have one moment of pleasure.

“Tell me!” Veronica begged.

She must have been feeling better today if she was in here bothering me.

I gave her my mom look. “V, I have a lot of work to do today.”

“Tell me, hoe!”

“I’m not a hoe.”

“Then tell me!”

I sighed. “You’re so annoying. It was nothing. We kissed and almost…” I felt my face get hot at remembering the way Logan had kissed me until I submitted to him. How his big hands lifted me up like I was a sack of groceries and he took me into his bedroom. “Liam interrupted us before it could go anywhere.”

“Oh, no!”

I waved her off. “He was kinda jerky about it later when he was all ‘I can’t have anything serious.’ I wasn’t trying to propose to him. I just wanted to have sex! The flowers are him apologizing.”

Veronica laughed. “Um, okay. Well, maybe you two could have some fun together.”

I shook my head. “Bad idea. He already seemed to think I have ideas in my head.”

She snatched the card from off the desk and read it. “Oh my god, let him take you to dinner. You deserve it. I’ll babysit for you.”

I glared at her, but she looked so giddy.

“V,” I pleaded with her. I wanted to finish actualizing these numbers, and she was distracting me.

“Come on, Logan’s wound as tight as you are. You could both use it.”

I shook my head. “You’re ridiculous. Go back to tattooing people and leave me in peace.”
