I stumbled as we walked out of the kitchen and said our goodbyes to our host. I had chatted with Natalia after Logan and I came in from the car. The house was lovely, and the school district was great. That was something I was thinking about for when Rosie got older. Because I was a mom, and even on a night out, all I did was think of my child.

Logan helped me into the backseat of his car while Veronica sat up front again. She looked a little green. Logan started the car, and we drove back to the city. I was going to need to ask my sister to drive me home. No way was I taking the bus with Rosie, especially in my state. I might have drunk a little too much, but I had been having such a good time. Sometimes I needed these nights to let go.

We dropped off our friends with little fanfare, and then I hopped into the passenger’s seat. Logan put a hand on my thigh as he drove over to his condo. It was much later than I thought it was, so the kids would be asleep when we got there.

“Tonight was fun,” I said.

He grinned. “We both needed that. Almost home, princess.”

Home. But not quite. He meant almost to his place, and then I’d get my kid and make my final trek home.

Once we got to his place, we tiptoed inside, trying not to make a noise and wake the kids. Mari was asleep on the couch, and she woke up when she heard us creep in. She groaned. “They finally went back to sleep. Rosie’s cranky tonight.”

I frowned. “Aw. I don’t want to wake her up and move her.”

Mari arched an eyebrow as Logan took off his helmet and put it on the kitchen island. His hair was messed up, and he ran a hand through it.

“Is that your old cosplay? You nerd!” she teased me.

“She looks good in it,” Logan said with a grin, doing nothing to disguise the way he stared at my exposed skin.

Mari rolled her eyes. “You two are drunk.”

“I’m not,” Logan protested.

That was true; he had one light beer when we first got to his teammate’s house because he was driving.

Mari stood up from the couch and shook her head at me. “Glad you had a good time. You deserve that, Lil.”

“She does,” Logan agreed.

“Just stay here,” Mari told me. “I have to bring Rosie back in the morning, anyway. Make my life easier.”

I bit my lip. I didn’t want to invite myself over, but Logan snaked an arm around my waist. “Stay. It’s okay.”

“Okay,” I whispered.

Mari left without a second word, and as soon as the door closed behind her, Logan spun me around and planted his lips on mine. I pressed a hand on his chest and leaned into the kiss.

When he pulled away, he framed my face with his hands. “Come on. Let’s go to bed.”

I pouted. I didn’t want to go to bed; I wanted to have sex again. That might have been the alcohol talking. I followed Logan into his bedroom, where he laid out a t-shirt and a pair of boxers for me, and he stripped off his costume.

“Do you not want to have sex again?” I asked as I tried to get off my top. Veronica had to help me get it on in the first place.

Logan pulled on a pair of pajama pants. “Lily, of course I want to have sex with you, but you’re drunk, and I’m sober.”

I frowned. “Sorry.”

He walked over to me and cupped my face. “Don’t say sorry. I had a good time tonight, okay?”

I nodded.

“Let’s get you out of this, okay?”

He reached around behind me and helped me undo my top, letting it fall to the floor. I slid the skirt off and took off my boots. He gave me a knowing look when I stumbled into the bed and changed into the clothes he laid out. Okay, maybe he had a point. I was a little drunk.

“I’m gonna check on the kids,” he said and stepped out into the other room.
