“No, I mean the dancing itself—you seemed different. You dance to let go, but you were letting something in that time.” Fleur studies me intently. “Perhaps that ratbag billionaire isn’t so ratbag after all.”

I’ll be the judge of that.

“Perhaps.” I settle into the wall, taking some deep breaths.

“You need to speak to Felix.”

“Yeah, I probably should.”

“You absolutely should,” says Fleur, grabbing my shoulder and twisting me around. “This is a big deal and he deserves to know.”

“Do you have the test so I can show him? I’d rather now use my words."

“Nope,” says Fleur. “I came straight out here.”

“Fuck.”

“Forget about the test. You know the results, and you can deliver the news to Felix yourself. Be a big girl.”

“And what if father finds out?”

“He won’t,” consolidates Fleur. “Baby steps. One thing at a time.”

I blow out a long breath, dropping my shoulders. “Right. Yes.”

“Tell him now.”

“I’m not working at his place until tomorrow.”

“Do I look like I give a damn?” Fleur flashes me daggers. “Stop running away and be proactive about this. Confront the truth before it confronts you.”

I tuck stray pieces of hair behind my ear and put my best foot forward, bidding Fleur goodbye.

I see where my sister is coming from. When you refuse to face the facts, they tend to hit you harder. I’m freaking out on the middle of the sidewalk because I refused to believe my father was the devil. And when you’re in denial, you lose yourself.

I’m glad Felix forced me to confront my feelings, but this is different. A baby is forever. Inescapable.

And I know Felix will flip, because being a parent is very different to being a part time lover.

SASKIA

“Tried sneaking out earlier, did you?” teases Felix as soon as I walk in through the door. He stands topless under the archway, water dripping from his toned body; a white towel knotted around his waist.

I try not to stare, but he makes it hard. A devious smirk tugs on his lips, his eyes shimmering like two shooting stars.

“I wanted to start early and be out of your hair.”

“I want you back in my hair… and my bed.”

Pregnant, Saskia. Tell him the truth.

Felix’s face changes. “Is something wrong?” He steps closer, dripping water onto the floor.

His silver hair is smoothed back away from his face, revealing a perfect hairline.

“Is your hair real?” I squeak—saying whatever comes to mind to avoid the truth.
