You need to get the locks changed and the security code reset, immediately.
Lawrence is working on it. The security code has been changed, and the locksmith will be out tomorrow.
How in the hell had she gotten into Amy’s building?
“Why don’t I fly—” he stopped himself. He didn’t want her anywhere around him. “Amy, go check into a hotel until the locks have been changed. Okay?”
“It’s just my mom vandalizing things. I don’t think I have to move out of my apartment,” Amy protested.
“For me?”
“All right.”
Kostya looked pretty good for someone who’d just had major surgery two days ago. He looked around the small hospital room. “You’re the men I’m worried about.”
“Kostya, he never saw me. I’m in the clear,” Gideon grinned.
“Bullshit. You’re known as the number two for Omega Sky just as much as I’m known as the lieutenant. He’ll hit you. Why aren’t you taking this seriously?” he glowered at Gideon.
“Because it really doesn’t impact me. I’m telling you, we need to worry about everyone else in the room.”
Ryker stared hard at his friend and noticed the smallest amount of perspiration on his dark-brown brow.
“I’ve got it!” Ryker called out. “Jada twisting his balls and refusing to leave. Since he knows she’s going to stay, he’s playing it off that she’s not in any danger. You are so pussy-whipped, my friend.” Ryker shook his head at Gideon.
“That is not true.”
“Really?” Kostya asked. “It’s sounding pretty true to me. As someone who had to use emotional blackmail on my fiancée to get her to go hide in San Francisco, I understand how difficult these women can be.”
All of a sudden, Gideon’s shoulders relaxed, and he got a big grin on his face.
“What?” Kostya said.
“Emotional blackmail. Silly me. I was just trying to push it from my side. Excuse me while I step out in the hall and call my soon-to-be brothers-in-law.”
Kostya started laughing, then coughing. Nolan got him a glass of water which Kostya gratefully took.
“I want to hear how the rest of you are handling your loved ones. Landon, you go first.”
“I broke up with the sculptor after our Russia mission. Grandma’s been telling me I need to cool my jets, so I’ve been kind of laying low on the dating scene for the last six months. My Grandma is my family and she’s back home, so I’m safe.”
Kostya nodded, then he turned to Nolan. “Good work on getting Maggie and Iris down to Tennessee.”
Nolan grinned. “Thanks, boss.”
Kostya turned to Linc. “What about you?”
“My family is all safe up in the frozen north that is known as Minnesota. They’re safe, and there’s no one special for them to target here locally. It’s been a bit of a dry spell.”
Kostya nodded, then he turned to Ryker.
“And Amy?”
“She’s staying in D.C. She’s in a building with a security system, cameras, and in a real well-lit area in downtown.”
“Okay. It sounds like Jada convinced her not to come down and visit, so that was good.”
Ryker nodded.
