“I’ll talk to Mrs. Schwartz.”

“My kids adore you.”
“I adore your kids. Actually, adore might not be the right word,” Jase said as he watched Bonnie walk from the bathroom toward the queen-sized bed.
“What’s the right word?”
“Adore is half the equation. The other half is that I live in fear. God forbid I screw up with you. I don’t know what kind of retribution Amber will take, but it will be bad. Very, very, bad.”
Bonnie giggled.
She slipped under the covers and turned off the lamp on her nightstand. Then she snuggled really close. “My advice to you is, screw up while she’s young, and her powers aren’t fully formed.” Her hands speared through his chest hair and his breath caught. He was done talking about her children.
“Your baby doll nightgown is gorgeous, but it has to go.”
Bonnie lifted her arms as he drew it over her head. She was nude underneath. Jase pulled her close and kissed her. How could he not?
“Turn out your lamp,” she said.
“Why? You locked your door, didn’t you?”
Bonnie nodded.
“Then the lamp stays on. I love looking at you.”
Bonnie’s nails dug deep into the skin of his chest. “I like looking at you, too.”
Jase pushed back the hair from her face. “Bonnie, I have a serious question.”
“O-o-okay.”
“Do I have all your like?”
She shoved at his chest. Hard. But she was laughing.
“Yes, you have all of my like. Am I ever going to hear the end of that?”
“Nope.”

Bonnie watched in horrified fascination as the huge black dog played tug-of-war with a long piece of rope with her two children. The dog, Lucy, suddenly let go. Amber and Lachlan ended up on their butts, laughing hysterically.
“Your kids couldn’t be any cuter,” Jada said as she sat down next to Bonnie. Jada Harlowe was Gideon Smith’s girlfriend.
“She’s right. Can I adopt them?” Lark Barona asked, as she sat down on the other side of Bonnie.
It was the second time she had met these two ladies, and already Bonnie was feeling a strong bond with them, and not just because their men all worked together.
“I’ll tell you what, Lark. You are so allowed to adopt them over a weekend some time.”
“Deal.” Lark thrust out her hand.
“Sweet,” Bonnie grinned as she shook her hand. “I get free babysitting.”
“And extra sexy time with Jase Drakos. Don’t forget that part of the equation,” Jada reminded her.
