“But I don't expect you to leave Silverfang, either,” she assured.

“So—” Mayhem shrugged. “We keep both.”

Moon stared at him. “You make everything sound easy.”

“No.” His expression became serious. “I just don't think loving you has to make everything harder.” Moon went quiet, and Mayhem brushed her hair away from her face. “We stay here when Dark Chaos needs you, and we’ll stay at Silverfang when they need me. We can even get our own place eventually if you want to.”

“Between the two clubhouses?” she asked.

He shrugged. “We could.”

“And when we're eighty?” she asked. “What happens then?”

Mayhem smiled. “I'll still be hot.”

Moon rolled her eyes. “You'll be insufferable.”

“You'll still love me when we’re eighty,” he said.

She smiled. “Yes, I will.”

His expression softened. “Then that's the plan.” Moon rested her head over his heart again. She liked that plan. For the first time in years, thinking about the future didn't bring a vision. There was no blood, no warning, no death waiting around a corner—just possibilities.

Moon smiled. “What?” Mayhem asked.

“Nothing,” she said.

“You're smiling,” he pointed out.

“I do that from time to time when I’m happy,” she teased.

“No, you do that when you’re plotting,” he countered.

Moon lifted her head. “How do you know I'm plotting?”

“Mate bond,” he said.

“That is not how it works,” she insisted.

“Sure it is. I can probably read your mind now.”

Moon narrowed her eyes. “What am I thinking?”

Mayhem was quiet for a minute and smiled back at her. “You’re thinking that I'm incredibly handsome and you're wondering why you wasted so much time fighting this.”

“Wrong,” she drawled.

“Okay, you’re thinking that you want to go again?” he said.

Moon's cheeks heated and Mayhem's grin widened. “Oh, I was right, wasn’t I?”

“Shut up,” she growled. Moon grabbed a pillow, and Mayhem laughed as she hit him with it. He caught the pillow and tossed it away as he rolled her under his body. Moon laughed. “Mayhem.”

“I like this bond,” he whispered.

“You're impossible,” she grumbled.

“You chose me,” he reminded.
