Chrome looked between them. “What the hell is happening?”
Chris stared at Moon. “Was there a cabin?”
Moon's stomach dropped. “Yes.”
Chris closed her eyes. “Damn it.”
“You've seen it, too?” she asked.
Chris opened her eyes. “Every night for the last two weeks.”
Mayhem muttered, “Here we go again.”
Tempest looked at her VP. “When were you going to tell me?”
“I am telling you now,” Chris said.
“After two weeks?” Tempest asked.
“I thought it would stop,” Chris insisted.
Moon understood that. She walked toward Christmas, and Chris looked at her. “Is it Black Hollow?” she asked.
“No,” Moon said.
Relief flashed across her face and then disappeared. “Something else?”
“Yes,” Moon said.
“Something dangerous?” Chris asked.
Moon considered lying, but Chris would know. “Probably.”
“Great,” Chris grumbled.
Chrome stepped beside her. “I'm coming.”
Christmas turned. “Coming where?”
“Wherever you're going,” he said.
“I haven't said I'm going anywhere,” she breathed.
“You will,” Chrome said, “and when you do, I’m coming.”
“You don't know that,” Chris hissed.
Chrome smiled. “I know you.” Chris glared at him, and Moon watched them, and then she remembered the man in the road. He wasn’t Chrome.
Mayhem leaned toward her. “Why are you smiling?”
Moon hadn't realized she was. “I'm not.”
“You are.” Moon looked at Christmas. Her VP was arguing with Chrome, and Tempest had already started asking questions. Howler was muttering something about apparently never getting six peaceful months again. Red and Blue were listening with entirely too much interest, and Moon smiled wider.
Mayhem frowned. “You know something.”
“Maybe,” she said.
