“Lucas and Janelle.”

“Yes. Lucas grabbed her while Janelle swung a bat at Cano’s head.”

“Is he okay?”

“Angry. Worried. But he’ll be fine after a few stitches and a nap.”

“Good. Keep him resting until I’m back in a few hours.”

“Where’s Kaos?” Because I know my brother. He’s itching to hunt and overprotective of his family. Genesis is one of us.

“He’s waiting for Lucas outside his mother’s house.”

“And Toro?”

“Picking up Lucinda. The bitch has to be involved…knows where Genesis is.”

“You don’t think all three are together?”

“No. I think Kirill made his move.”

“I want all three hanging from the pipes at El Hueco when I land. No excuses.”

Because somewhere between Louisiana and home, four assholes have made the worst mistake of their fucking lives when they touched what’s mine. Each has a penance to pay.

“Yes, Presidente.”

El Hueco is silent when I step inside.

Brothers line the walls with their ol’ ladies beside them as the club’s justice is public tonight, and everyone here gets to watch and participate.

Lucinda, Lucas, and Janelle are tied to metal poles against one of the walls, and I walk straight to the cuero fino first. Her eyes drag over me, a slow smile spreading across chemically plumped lips, and the stupid bitch thinks her looks matter to me. That she can flirt her way out of the ending she deserves.

I shoot her through the hip.

Her scream tears through the building, but I’m not moved. “Where is Genesis?”

“The capital,” she cries out, sagging against the restraints. “The Montalvos own a lot of property. She’s probably with the family near the President’s home. It’s heavily guarded, and no one comes in or out without being vetted.”

“That’s a lie. Where is she?”

“A house under Emilio’s name.”

“Which one?” I ask, and she gives it between sobs. Trojan’s fingers move across his tablet’s screen, checking if the property exists. Luckily for her, it does. Gives her a few more seconds to be useful. “Anyone living there now?”

“I was mostly by myself. The men, they all move around.”

“Good enough.”

“Please, I told—” The bullet pierces her neck, and she chokes on her own blood. Gurgles for a few minutes, eyes wide and frantic, until nothing. Vacant eyes are all that’s left behind.

Then I turn to Lucas. My prospect.

He would’ve been patched in four months from now.

“Why?” That’s all I ask. His gaze drops, and he doesn’t answer. I offer an incentive. The next shot from my gun lands on his thigh. “Answer me.”

“I wanted more.” Voice low. Empty. “I was tired of being a nobody running errands and taking orders—doing the bullshit prospect work while everyone was treating me like a pussy.” A small laugh escapes me; it holds no amusement. I’m looking at Janelle now, and he follows. For a moment, he smiles at her, but then grimaces. Those flesh shots hurt. “She made me feel important. Like I mattered.”
