“Yes.”
“This coming from my kidnapper?”
“I borrowed you too easily.”
“You had a gun,” she hisses low, exasperated, but those fingers tighten in my cut. Her hips roll once.
“You need to be more aware of your surroundings.”
“I just worked an all-night shift. In a secure hospital.”
“What if it hadn’t been me?” That stops her, and I let it settle for a few seconds. Some of the indignation drains from her face. “You think danger gives a fuck that you’re tired? Or that you’re walking out of a secure hospital with people all around you?”
“That doesn’t exactly make me feel better.”
“Not meant to.” I soften the truth with another slow caress beneath her jaw, my thumb sweeping back and forth. “You need to learn how to protect yourself, Genesis Romero. How to get out of a hold and where to hit. What to do when the person coming at you is bigger and stronger.”
Brown eyes narrow. A little clearer now. “And you’re teaching me?”
“One week at six.”
“I can’t. I’ll have my regular shift, and before that, my weekly late lunch that turns into an early dinner with my family—”
“I’m picking you up at six.” Before she can try to argue, I remove my hand and nip the area my thumb just left. Dip my head a little lower and leave another small bite on her pulse point. Her breath catches; my cock throbs in time with her heavy breathing. “Be ready, Pocket Doc.”
Then I walk away.

SAINT
Iwent home after leaving Genesis at the resort, but distance did nothing to calm the effect—the memory—of her skin beneath my fingertips. Soft. Warm. Something more, that I’m not ready to admit.
Pocket Doc is trouble.
More than I anticipated, and when I pull into my garage, I’m still carrying the scent of mango in my lungs and the sound of my name in her sweet voice.
Not Saint.
Not President.
But Santos.
The moment I’m off my bike, I shoot Kaos a text.
Home. MIA until church. ~Saint
His response comes in immediately.
K lo K? You good? ~Kaos
Am I? Yes, but the full answer requires a clarity I’m missing.
Genesis Romero was supposed to be useful for one night. She was someone brought into the compound to save my brother’s life, then sent home alive or in a body bag, but I noticed her.
How mouthy she is. How beautiful she is. How she doesn’t break, but instead commands attention.
Mine. Everyone around her.
