Macklin’s lips curl in his typical cocky smile. “She was my girlfriend before she was yours.”

“The bed in my room is bigger than yours.” Becks’s scowl darkens.

“Bullshit. I have a king size bed.”

It’s Becks’s turn to smile triumphantly. “Mine is a California king. I told you that mine’s bigger.”

I hope we’re still talking about their beds here. “Guys, I—”

“It’s your choice, baby.” Macklin decides. “In which room do you want to sleep?”

They’re waiting for me to make a choice.

“Guys, this isn’t fair. I just told you that I can’t choose.”

“We know,” Becks reassures me. “This is just about sleeping arrangements for tonight, I promise.”

“Agreed,” Macklin nods.

Yeah. They can promise as much as they want, but I know that whatever choice I make, they’re going to read into it more than they should.

I stand up but don’t take either man’s hand. “Fine. Then I’ll take the couch. Becks just said it’s comfortable.”

“No fucking way,” Becks protests. “I don’t care if you sleep with him. But I don’t want you to sleep on the couch.”

“Same,” Macklin bites out.

I roll my eyes. “Jesus,” I groan. “You two are impossible. Ok, this is how it’s going to work out. There are two bedrooms, and there should be no reason for anyone to have to sleep on the couch. These are the options. Option one: we flip a coin for which room I sleep in tonight and then we alternate nights. Option two: I take Macklin’s room since it has the slightly smaller bed and you two bunk together in Becks’s California king bed.”

“That would be nice because you’d have your own room,” Becks muses. “But seriously, I don’t mind taking the couch. I don’t want to sleep with him. He snores.”

Before I can get one word in edge-wise, Macklin fires back. “I don’t want to sleep with him either. I don’t mind sleeping on the couch. He farts.”

“Take that back!” Becks growls. “I don’t fart.”

Macklin smiles, satisfied to have gotten a rise out of his brother. “Says you. I don’t snore, by the way.”

God, give me strength. “You forget that we’ve already shared a bed once, and neither of you snored or farted. I was going to offer you one final option. Option three: we could all share Becks’s bed, since it’s the biggest one. And before you start bickering again, I would prefer that option since I really don’t want to choose.”

They look at each other for a long moment.

“Fine. Let’s go with option three, then.” Macklin nods.

“Option three it is.” Becks’s nod is the spitting image of his brother’s.

Becks’s mattress is a memory foam hybrid dream that feels like a cloud but offers support at the same time.

I’m warm and comfortable in one of Becks’s old t-shirts with one hot boyfriend at either side of me. If only this could work long term. Because when I say that I can’t choose between them, I mean it. Just the idea of losing one of them feels like letting one half of my heart go forever.

Eventually, though, my mind finds peace, at least temporarily.

This day has been a roller coaster ride, and it has definitely taken its toll on me, so sleep takes me under the second my head touches the pillow.

And I dream.

I’m outside in the rain. The night is cold, and I wander around Star Cove with nowhere to go.

Like it happened earlier, dream Talia knocks on Macklin and Becks’s door.
