The only one who thought this was a good idea was Professor Cantucci.
There was a lot of back and forth arguing until the professor had the idea of hiding inside her closet.
She wanted to hear Victor’s admission in real time. But she hadn’t anticipated that Mack and I would insist on hiding inside here with her, ready to jump out the second her sleazy assistant even tried to get too close to Talia.
“Isn’t there any way you could make an exception for me?” Talia’s voice is pleading and flirty at the same time. “I can pay you.”
“I doubt it,” Victor taunts her. “Everyone on campus knows that you’re broke. Besides, I took money from Gen last year, and it’s too risky to have transactions between me and a student in my bank account that I can’t justify. I hope the investigation is over, but until I’m positive it’s better to lie low. That’s why this time I asked Gen for something that can’t be traced.”
The fucking hypocrisy. As if asking for sex not to ruin someone’s academic career, like he is doing, was above board.
Talia insists. “Really? What if I didn’t give you money, but I paid you in some other way?”
He laughs. “What other way? You’re already going to let me fuck you. What else could you possibly have that I’m not already getting?”
Jesus. The sleazebag has a point. But Talia demonstrates some impressive quick thinking when she pivots.
“How about a threesome?”
That peaks Victor’s interest. “That would be hot,” he muses. “We could ask Gen. You two together would look mind blowing. I would love to watch you with her and then have you both. I’ll call my dealer and get some blue pills so I can last for hours.”
I swear there’s no end to this guy’s creepiness.
“So, do we have a deal? If we do that, will you give me a good grade in Econ?”
“I’m tempted, Talia,” Victor says. “But Econ is too risky, I told you.”
Talia crosses her arms over her chest. “If you don’t help me with that class, I’m not going to agree to a three way.”
“I’m sorry, I can’t help you. Last year, it would have been different. I was able to hack into the college's main servers.”
“Really?” Talia gawks. “Victor, you’re so smart.”
I can see the grin on the bastard’s face from here as he preens under the compliment. “Coding is as easy as breathing for me. And hacking is the fun part. Last year I improved Gen’s grades in every class. I was able to pay for grad school and all my living expenses with the money I got from her. But, like I said, things have changed.”
“But how? If you’re so good at coding…”
“I don’t know, ok?” He raises his voice. “Something went wrong. Maybe it was a virus; your guess is as good as mine. But rather than changing just Gen’s grade, my special code changed every grade. No one realized it until the professor pulled the grades for the graduating students. They realized all the grades were much higher than they remembered. There was nothing below a B.”
Talia asks the same question that’s on the tip of my tongue. “But I thought you had written that code just for Econ?”
“Yes and no. I wanted to test it on the main grading software too. I started with Cantucci’s class because I had her username and password and I didn’t even have to hack into it. But, like I said, there was something wrong with it. Ironically, it was Cantucci who spotted the discrepancy because she loves giving crappy grades to all the athletes, and she immediately saw that something was wrong.”
“Ok,” Talia rises from her chair. “If you can’t, I understand.”
“Wait,” Victor stands up too. “Where the fuck do you think you’re going? I fixed your quiz sheet. You owe me something.”
My muscles are tense to the breaking point, ready to spring into action the second he gets closer. Mack is ready too, as focused and ready to pounce as right before a face-off on the ice.
“Sorry, Victor,” Talia takes one step back. “This took longer than I thought. I have a class starting soon on the opposite end of campus. I really have to go.”
“Bullshit,” Victor sneers. “I looked at your schedule when you booked an appointment today. You don’t have any classes this afternoon.”
Talia takes another step away from the desk. “We’ll have to do this another time,”
Yeah, when hell freezes over.
“No,” he rounds the corner of the desk, and my hand is on the knob of the closet door. “We’re going to do this now. And I’ll tell you something else. Next time we meet up, we’ll invite Genevieve to join us.”
