“It doesn’t matter. What matters is that you didn’t think I was important enough to tell you that.”

“No, that’s not it,” I say. “You know everything happened so fast. I had no time to tell you. But I called you today to tell you everything.”

“Spill.”

I let go of the fact that she needs to tell me how everyone on the internet knows Dominic and I are together and tell her everything that happened in my life. From the moment I left my ex at the airport to every moment till now.

I take my coffee and settle down on a nearby chair, taking a sip, my cheeks turning hot while telling her every single detail.

Just the mere mention of Dominic and me makes me turn all giddy. What did he turn me into?

A lovesick fool, apparently.

“So you’re telling me he told you he loved you? And you love him too?” She questions.

“Yes,” I say, a wide grin plastered on my face. “God, I have never been so sure of anything as I am of him.”

“This is so rom-com coded, Sienna,” she says, and I laugh. “You better write a book on your own love story. Or I will. Capitalize on our friendship, at least.”

I throw my head back as I laugh. Only her mind can come up with something like this.

“I won’t capitalize on our relationship, Aisha.”

“But you already are, Sienna,” a voice comes from behind me, and I furrow my brows and turn around.

Myra stands with her arms crossed on her chest.

Was she eavesdropping on me this whole time?

Sienna Hayes

Igrow confused as I look at her. Aisha says something on the other end, but I can’t pay attention to her.

“Hey, I will call you back,” I say and hang up. Myra looks at me as if I had no right to be here. I have always known she doesn’t like me, but I didn’t know she thought so lowly of me.

“What did you say?” I ask, hoping she will elaborate on what she just said.

I don’t care what vendetta she has against me or what she thinks of me, but she has no right to comment on my personal life.

“I said you are already capitalizing on your relationship with Dominic,” she says, with an irritating smirk on her face. “Did you think no one would notice? First, you became close with him, then you dumped your years-long boyfriend and jumped into a relationship with Dominic. Do you know what that makes you?”

I fist my hands by my side. I have never been a violent person, but God, I wish to smack some sense into her. I always knew she was guarded, but what I didn’t know was that she could be this vile as well.

I cross my arms on my chest, feigning ignorance.

“Do pray tell me what that makes me, Myra. If you know me so well, tell me what dumping my toxic ex and finally falling for the right man makes me.”

She chuckles at that, shaking her head at me as if I were a joke.

“Don’t play with words in front of me,” she says. “This might work on Dominic because he thinks with his heart, but it won’t work on me. You have completely unraveled his life, and I won’t let you get away with it.”

I narrow my eyes at her. Why does she even think I will care for what she says? Maybe in the past I would have, but not now. Not when I am finally happy after not knowing how that felt for a really long time.

It may be selfish, but I don’t care.

I know I love Dominic, and it might not make sense to anyone, and it doesn’t even have to.

“You know what’s funny, Myra,” I say, taking a step towards her. “It’s amusing that you think I care about your opinion. You don’t know me, you don’t know what I have gone through and what Dominic means to me. But if you think you can come here and tell me to stay away from him and I will, then you’re delusional. I love him, and I will stay with him whether you like it or not.”
