Gia sighs, calling Rowdy off.

“That’s what I thought,” I tell him on my way out the door and past the newly reconfigured yard sign. It’s nowhere near perfect, but I tried my best to piece it back together again.

I set Gia down by the passenger door of my Chevy, careful to keep her facing toward the front end.

“You done now?” she asks, and I try not to laugh, telling her, “Not even close.”

Her knee lifts so fast it’s a blur, but I manage to shoot my hands out in time to keep her from connecting with my balls.

Jesus Christ, that was close.

“Don’t ever pull that shit again.”

I press into her, peering down my nose to tell her, “Don’t you ever pull that shit again.” My voice rises as I continue, “I had to sit there and watch your fuckboys,” plural because, fuck me, “grope you while you lapped it up! You’re lucky a couple smacks on the ass is all you got.”

“How much longer until you get it?” She’s full-on yelling, too. “What else do I have to say to get you to go away?”

I take a step back. “You can start with the truth.”

“We tried that, you went fucking psycho.”

“Yeah, I broke some stuff, but you tried to fuck me out of your system.”

“You could’ve done the same,” she mutters.

“What was that?”

“Nothing.” She waves a hand. “Who says you left that kind of impression? And what makes you think I haven’t already fucked someone else?”

I growl, pushing back into her. “I’ve had it with you and—”

“Good! Fucking great!” Her hands flail at her sides before she uses them to shove at my chest. “I’ve been waiting for this moment. It’s really not that deep for some of us. It’s sad that you’re incapable of understanding that, but I promise, Roz, the only person you’re hurting is you.”

Lies. I was about to say I’ve had it with her and her lies. Even now, nothing in Gia’s expression matches what she’s saying.

“Are we making promises now?” I murmur, but instead of answering, she tries to shoot past me.

I block her with an arm on the side mirror and lower my voice to rasp, “Don’t. Don’t go yet. I need you here still.”

She jerks her head to the side, jaw locked.

“Come on, Gia. Go on an adventure with me.”

That word does the trick, and she slowly lifts her gaze to mine. She waits a minute, then gets into the passenger seat without another word. I knew she was intrigued.

Around the other side, I fist a fresh pair of shorts and, using the open back door as a barrier from the house, I drop the wet ones along with my boxer briefs in one fell swoop. Gia’s breath catches from the front seat and I swallow a scoff. Why you looking, baby?

I step out of the wet pile, making sure I keep my eyes on Gia’s. She holds my stare the entire time…until she doesn’t.

She looks all right, drinking me in like a castaway after a drought and damn if my cock doesn’t love the thought of that scenario.

“Still think I’m pathetic?” I give her a little wink when she makes her way back to my face. There’s a sheen to it that she can’t even begin to hide.

“Still want to kiss me?” she counters.

“Always.”

“Then yes.”
