“That’s why we’re doing this. So we can get to know each other.”
“I’m trying to get to know you. You’re just being an asshole.”
Suppressing my own smile, I press a kiss to the top of her head.
“What do you like to do for fun?” I ask out of the side of my mouth.
“What?”
I pull back. “What are your hobbies?”
“We’re not doing this anymore.”
She tries to get up but I tighten my hold on her using both arms. I also throw a leg over hers for good measure.
I have to raise my voice over her grunting to ask, “Other than hit me in the face, badly, what do you like to do for fun?”
After a couple minutes of pointless struggling, Kota stills with a huff.
“I like to read.”
“What do you read?”
“Romance.”
“Like with that buff dude with the long hair on the cover?”
“Wha—”
She puts up another fight, so I let her go, grinning as she settles herself on top of me.
This is much better.
“What kind of romance books are you reading?” she asks incredulously.
“None. I’ve never read a romance book in my life.” Unless she counts Romeo and Juliet, which I read for school but was told it was a tragedy. All the girls in class didn’t seem to comprehend that part though.
“It shows.”
Chin an inch above my chest, she’s holding herself up with her elbows on each side of me. Gazing into her sparkling eyes, it takes everything in me to keep my hands on her back and not reach for those ass cheeks that may or may not be peeking out the bottom of my hoodie. It’s ridden up but I’m not sure how much.
“Tell me where to start and I will.”
“Seriously?”
“Do they have sex in them?”
“Yes.”
This freak in a cheerleader skirt.
“I’ll read ’em. Just not with ponytail dude on the cover.”
“Oh my God. Some of the books I read have guys on the covers but not that guy. That’s probably what my mom used to read when she was my age.”
Her laugh is so small and cute, I don’t even care that it’s at my expense.
“I’ll send you some.”
