“Will that let you see what I listen to?”

More of my laughter fills the cab. These are his songs. Khaos Pierson may like to fight, but deep down, he’s a lover.

“No,” I partially lie. I won’t be able to see what he’s listening to, but his playlists… As long as they’re not set to private, those should be visible.

They are. Or at least his public ones are.

Not too impressed with their titles, I quickly scroll through them. Until I see one labeled “Cloud.” There aren’t any emojis next to it to give any indication of what he’s referring to. Could be a girl. Could be…anything. He did say his favorite color is cloud, which still confuses me.

I scan the songs on it.

“Confidence” by Ocean Alley.

“Oceans” by Seafret.

“Bad Choices” by Kode.

“Three Steps Ahead” by Jared Benjamin.

“Risk It All” by Bruno Mars.

“Find me yet?”

“Yep.”

As quick as I can, I swipe out of the app, clearing the tab altogether.

He’s a little more hesitant to tell me his name on the payment app we both have but finally relents.

I get that all squared away, too, adding him as a contact just as he parks at the curb in front of Littoral’s athletic department.

Before getting out, I study his face, those sapphire eyes, that lush mouth, and wish I could kiss him right here, right now. I wish I could kiss him anywhere, everywhere.

His gaze lowers to my lips as well.

“Thanks for the ride.”

Grinning, he shrugs. “I wanted to spend more time with you anyway.”

“Oh yeah? Is that why you slashed my tire? So you could be my chauffeur?”

Khaos’s smile dissolves instantly. “I didn’t do that.”

“I know,” I assure him with a clumsy chuckle. “It was just a joke.”

Nothing on him relaxes.

“Text me when you’re done.”

“I will. Text me when you have the total for the tires.”

His nod is the barest of movements.

I make myself leave the truck and head into the gym.

She called him. She fucking called him. At the first ripple, she went running right back to that pussy-ass motherfucker. And me? I wasn’t even a consideration. Why? Because I don’t have shit and I don’t know shit and I can’t. Do. Shit.

Fuck! I got caught lacking. Again. After I swore I wouldn’t.
