“What did you have in mind?” he asked, pulling away, but keeping his eyes on me.
I giggled softly.
His father cleared his throat and stood from his chair. He walked over to us, his face slightly flushed from our little exchange.
“Sarah.” He nodded. “It’s nice to see you again.”
“Wonderful to see you too, Mr. Ashcroft,” I said warmly as Brad pulled me to his side. His thumb rubbed against my ribs, making my knees weak.
“Please, call me William,” his father said, the skin crinkling around his eyes as he smiled wide.
“That’s right, babe. No need for formalities.” Brad chuckled, just as his hand drifted down and cupped my ass, giving it a squeeze that made my mind go blank.
Chapter 20 Brad
I could see my father’s mouth drop in surprise before he snapped his mouth shut, the corner of his lip twitched, pulling upward. He was clearly happy with the PDA he was witnessing, just like I had intended. I was also taking it in. Taking in the way Sarah’s ass felt in the palm of my hand, full and perky. She hadn’t even flinched when my hand had strayed.
I wondered if I had taken it too far. We had never discussed the terms of our deal.
What types of PDA were appropriate?
What lines weren’t supposed to be crossed?
When she walked in wearing that sapphire dress just now, my mind had temporarily gone blank as my eyes focused on the blue fabric stretched across her breasts, cinched perfectly at her waist, running down her hips like a waterfall. My hands couldn’t help but stray when they were on her.
My father cleared his throat, averting his gaze. I reluctantly removed my hand, but remained at Sarah’s side. Our bodies still brushed against each other, never losing that connection.
“I suppose I should give you some alone time,” said my father, adjusting his gold tie. He winked at Sarah, who stiffened slightly next to me. I grabbed her hand and gave her a reassuring squeeze.
“Are you sure you can’t stay?” she asked warmly.
“Ahh no, sweetheart.” My father waved her off. “You don’t want an old geezer like me hanging around ruining your afternoon. Plus, my business is done here.”
And thank God it was. He had come in again, reminding me of what was on the line if I lost the deal with Music Now. As if our conversation yesterday hadn’t been enough. I hoped we were done talking about it now that Sarah was in the picture. It seemed to be working.
All the loose ends were tied up. My check had gone through, which meant the deal was on. It took a little convincing with the bank, but I had emailed them enough documentation to assure them that the check was real. The deposit had gone through at midnight.
I had also had a little chat with Fred from human resources once most everyone in the office had left. My lawyer had been working on an NDA all day, which I had Fred sign during our meeting. I was sure he had only signed because of the money I had promised him. Another check I would surely have to clear with the bank, but it was all worth it.
All worth it to see the look of satisfaction on my father’s face right now.
“I’m glad we could get that all sorted out, Dad,” I said with a smug smile, my arm wrapping around Sarah’s waist and pulling her into me.
It felt like I had won. In more ways than one.
“Me too, son. I have a good feeling about the deal,” he said in a slightly sing-song voice. He adjusted the buttons of his jacket before picking up his briefcase from the floor. After giving me a solid pat on the back, he shook Sarah’s hand, giving her a smile I hadn’t seen in a while.
“I’ll be seeing you,” he said with a nod.
“I look forward to it,” said Sarah, her voice dripping with sweetness.
She was really good at this.
We turned, her body still pulled close to mine as we watched my father slip out the door. He gave another wink before closing the door behind him.
Sarah pulled away from me and looked at me sharply, her brown eyes embers that were growing with each passing second. She crossed her arms and her mouth pulled into a tight-lipped frown.
“What?” I asked. “What is it?”
