Fuck.

Yes.

“How much for your whore?” A sleazy, out of breath voice asked as my guys stopped walking.

“She’s not a whore,” York hissed.

Briggs grunted. “And she’s not for fucking sale.”

The new male spoke only to Stone, ignoring my other guys. “I don’t care about who you share her with. Keep the prostitute. I’d rather talk to you about buying the Third Devil. Perhaps we can speak privately. Maybe I could even persuade you to sell both of them.”

Vaughn scoffed, looking down at me. “This imbecile can’t be serious right now.”

“I’m not interested in selling my mate, sir. Thanks, but no thanks,” Stone deflected, the elegance and sarcasm in his tone an odd mix that made him sound snobbish.

“I own several mines in Stars and coastal properties in Voletan. I can pay you handsomely. How does thirty—”

Palmer snorted. “Unless ye’re about to say thirty million, fuck off.”

I furrowed my brow at Palmer, and he shrugged unapologetically. “What the fuck?” I mouthed to him.

“We’ll come get ye after the transfer,” he assured me in a hushed voice, a small grin aimed in my direction. “If they’re gonna be arseholes, then why can’t we?” He asked with a shrug.

He had a decent point. Demons traded in resources, not currency, but a single million of anything was a high price.

I wouldn’t feel bad for taking the idiot demon’s money, especially when he was trying to buy me like a piece of meat.

The more he spoke, the more calm I became, a smothering inferno building in my chest with what was to come if the male kept talking.

We should just kill him.

“I haven’t met a single soul who’s worth that amount in any resources. I simply want to buy my way into her social circle, the prestige that comes with being associated with the current ruling Devil,” the nameless male stated vehemently.

“The matter of buying your whore, though, could still be open for negotiations as well. I wouldn’t mind an hour with her. If her face looks as good as her ass then I’d be willing to pay for more…”

Nope.

Fuck that noise.

I’d rather spend the entire night covered in blood than listen to anymore of Dale’s bullshit.

The last thing I did as me, was reach out mentally to my mage. I’d have to apologize later for being so forceful with our connection. My demon was in no mood for apologies, but she did have some manners.

“Palmer, drop the spell on my hair, please.”

The True Devil

We had kept the calm mask in place for longer than I’d expected. If anyone looked at our face and posture, we would appear as unaffected as always, but that's not what tipped my mates off to the sudden change.

The air around us shivered with our contained rage, making the little hairs on my treasured mates’ arms and necks stand on end with the impending bloodshed.

None of them were stupid, they knew when there was a superior predator in their path. The idiot demons in front of us did not.

As they continued to talk to my Stone about us like we weren’t within earshot, we studied their faces and their body language. If we didn’t kill them while they were in front of us, then we’d be seeking them out later and picking them off one by one.

We weren’t sure if we wanted to make blood angels in the streets or make one of those gnarly centipede things that we saw in a movie once.

Tapping the fingers of our left hand against our hip, we let all the gruesome ideas flow through us.
