What really caught my attention was Sloane’s fixation on two demons as they approached her and Hyde. She grabbed Hyde’s hand, dragging her toward me as the bartender came to take my order.

Naturally, they followed, and I decided to let Barbie do all the talking. I was content to sit back and listen, observe as my mate and her friend bleed them out on the floor, if that’s what they wanted to do.

“Three waters, please,” I requested, tossing my thumb in Barbie and Hyde’s direction to let him know who they went to.

The bartender politely nodded his head in acknowledgment as he filled three glasses and passed them to the girls and me.

The first demon of the duo, a male with dark burgundy fur covering his body and yellow eyes, casually leaned against the bar next to Hyde.

“Let us buy your drinks, sugar.”

Sloane grinned as Hyde responded, “Thanks, but no thanks. We’re good.”

She was civil, but annoyance had seeped into her posture. Her knuckles paled as she squeezed her glass, stance rigid, face impassive.

Hyde was a miniature version of Sloane, all five feet of her. She was probably a hundred pounds soaking wet, but my money was on her if there was a fight.

“You girls just looked like you could use some company, that’s all,” the second male commented placatingly, his dusty brown skin appearing damp in the dimmed lighting of the bar.

His hands possessively landed on either side of Sloane as she slipped on her drink. Her expression morphed from amusement to hostility in the time it took me to blink.

Hyde blew a harsh breath through her lips, irritated, exhausted, and drunk.

“We’re here with more than one someone. We don’t like fuck boys. If you’re looking to get your dicks wet, go find some other thirsty bitches. I answered for both of us when I said no thanks. There’s no easier way to explain how little interest either of us holds in this conversation.”

The burgundy demon stepped closer to Hyde, his lascivious gaze making my anger surface. When he reached out to skim his fingers down her arm, I snapped.

Shoving between Sloane and dumbass number two, I wrapped my hand around dumbass number one’s wrist. A growl worked its way up from deep within my chest as I stared them down.

My voice was little more than a rumble as I spoke with my snarling wolf’s tone. “That one is mine, and by extension, so is this one. If you don’t understand what no means… then I’d be more than happy to define it for you.”

Releasing his wrist with enough force to send him landing on his ass, I smirked as he skidded to a stop at York’s feet.

Everyone in our ragtag group was capable of handling both demons on their own, but the druid always had my back in a bar fight.

York glanced from his feet to me, from me to the demon standing too close to our mate. He took in the rage on Sloane’s and Hyde’s faces. And then he gave me a toothy smile, evil lurking behind his calm disposition.

Barbie’s voice echoed softly in my mind. “Show them your hand.”

I held my hand out, palm facing the livid demon before me as York did the same to the demon at his feet.

The key that Sloane had given us, that Sam and Lucifer had marked as well, lit up my skin. A circle appeared, followed by the Roman numerals, and as the goat’s head began to glow, its horns morphed into the odd S-shaped horns that adorned my mate’s head.

When I peered at Barbie, her dyed black hair parted neatly to expose her ivory horns as they slowly grew from her head.

After reaching their peak, she retracted them, smirking at both dumbasses as she grabbed Hyde’s elbow and started steering her toward our table.

“Have fun,” she called over her shoulder, sending York and me a flirty wink.

“Just like old times, Wolf?” York questioned with a single brow raised.

I grunted in reply, rolling my shoulders back. “You first, Druid.”

York scooped the burgundy demon up, the druid’s hands under his arms, and shoved him my way. I took a step forward, meeting the burgundy demon mid-stumble with brute force. Swinging my fist, heavy and wide, I connected with his cheek and orbital, watching him drop like a sack of potatoes at my feet.

The druid dove past me, pouncing on the slimy brown demon as he unleashed all his restrained fury.

I waited for my opponent to pull himself off the ground while York pummelled dumbass number two. Straddling the brown demon’s chest, York held his arms down with well-placed knees and strength I’d never seen him carry before.
