I kept myself pressed against Vaughn as we followed the rest of the guys out.

“If I accidentally kill him,” I pondered, just loud enough to be sure the shapeshifter heard me. “Do you think Arwen can bring him back to life before any real damage is done to his brain?”

“He should be fine,” Vaughn answered dismissively. “It’s not like he’s using it, anyway. I’m more concerned with you ruining Novak’s shirt. He’ll throw a fit.”

I turned my head to look up at his amused, icy blue eyes. Neither of them gave a fuck about the shirt. But I couldn’t decide if he didn’t like Bishop or if he was teasing the shapeshifter with me.

When we reached the center of the yard, I took Novak’s flannel off, handing it to my fae with a grin. If I kept it on, then I‘d shred the back of it, and I liked this one.

I was going to keep it.

Not that it was important right now.

The bralette I was wearing would give my wings plenty of room to snap out with no fabric to catch on the bones. I looked left and right, making sure there was enough space between Stone and me.

Briggs eyed my chest. “We need to figure out how to keep you clothed when you morph.”

I snorted at him. “I’m covered. Every bathing suit I own shows more skin than this, and I wear those in public.”

“And when we get home, I want to see those,” he shot back, adjusting the material of his jeans.

“Depends on what you want to bet,” I purred, running my tongue along my upper lip.

Novak cleared his throat, whispering, “Negotiate a game of pool with partners. You want the druid's help. I promise.”

“I’m not gambling against her.” My wolf scoffed. “I watched my dumbass brother lose his truck last week. That’s enough for me. Thanks.”

My vampire chuckled, shaking his head. “Shame. We’ll have to talk her into modeling for us some other way.”

I focused on Bishop as I tightened my hair tie. “How do you feel about heights?”

He started to answer, but I scrunched my face up and said, “It doesn’t matter. That was a rhetorical question.”

Stone and I morphed slowly, letting Joyner and Bishop watch our transformations. I could feel the blood dripping down my back as the bones of my wings pierced my flesh.

Stone’s tail lashed lazily, his pitch black demon the complete opposite of mine. I didn’t grow in size like he did. My skin changed from a lightly tanned color to a pearlescent white. I knew if I looked down, I’d see my mate’s skin embedded in my chest.

He flashed razor-sharp teeth at Joyner and Bishop, and I smiled too.

“That’s a gnarly scar—”

Bishop screamed the last word as I swooped in to grab him under his arms. One mighty flap of my wings had me closing the distance between us and pushing into the air. His shriek was a high-pitched noise that made my ears ring.

I cackled as I flew straight up.

I didn’t go too high, but I was far enough away from Stone that Bishop would feel the distance pass him by before he was caught. I winked before I let him go.

Stone used his left hand to rub at his right arm, almost like brushing lint off his skin. As the shapeshifter soared past him, my demon stuck his hand out and snatched Bishop by his ankle. He tossed the pretty blonde back up to me.

We passed him back and forth a few times, letting the distance grow between us with each drop or throw. His bronzy skin was washed out and turning green, so I thought it might be best to stop playing before he got sick.

“You know,” I shouted as he sailed through the air toward me. “I killed someone like this last week.”

“Put me down!” he roared.

My fingers grazed his arm, but I didn’t tighten my grip on him, letting him fall once more. I stared down at his wide eyes, opening my mouth in fake surprise as he flailed around.

“Oh, shit!” I cried dramatically. “I missed.”
