Novak snorted. “We’ve all thought so, too. But what’s the connection?”
“We need to find out who Alric Moore is—if that’s even his real name,” Briggs mentioned. “He keeps popping up in conversation.”
Palmer nodded. “Annette by herself is a nonissue, but if she’s taking the mages to siphon their power, then that’s a whole other set of problems.”
“Either way, she’s another fucking distraction,” I growled.
“Yes,” he acquiesced. “But we can’t leave here until we find out what’s happening inside the guild headquarters, and we catch whoever is abducting mages.”
“Kill,” I corrected. “We’re not catching her, Palmer. I’m going to kill her. The quicker, the better. Alric is who we need to find. He’ll lead us to Raguel, and that is where we’ll find the root of all these problems.”
My fae sighed. “No one disagrees with you on that topic, Princess.”
I closed my eyes, letting the sound of the water hitting the coast soothe me. “So, we have a loose plan. Find the people, kill the people.”
Vaughn scoffed. “That’s not a plan.”
“Agree to disagree, Fae.” I grinned at him. “Still got your map out? I want to know where we are so we can come back when the world isn’t falling apart.”
“We’re at the Giant’s Causeway,” Palmer answered, glancing around us as if he’d just noticed something.
“I wanted to visit while we were in the country, but now that we’re here…” His words trailed off as he continued searching our surroundings, then he abruptly asked, “Are we alone?”
I cackled before I could stop myself. “Listen, mage. I’m all for group activities, but I need to shower first. That place in Russia was grimy, and I can still feel the sticky carpet under my feet—And why are you all looking at me like that?”
Novak smirked while the rest of my guys appeared oddly amused.
“Voyeurism isn’t the mage’s kink, Trouble,” my vampire whispered.
My mind short-circuited, coming back online with nothing but filth at the forefront. I should not have been thinking about sex at a time like this, but we were alone… And the view was beautiful and public, and we had illegally entered the country carrying forged passports.
That was a bit of a rush.
How cold would the grass feel against my bare back or the spray of the saltwater?
“We could create a bubble,” I proposed. “That would feel public but still give us privacy.”
Briggs tilted his head. “I don’t understand how you went from sex in public to being here illegally and then all the way back around.”
“It’s the thrill of getting caught,” Stone informed him. “That’s the common denominator you’re looking for.”
Palmer rubbed his hand over his mouth, attempting to wipe his grin away. “That’s not what I was thinking, Love, but that was an interesting circle your mind made.”
“Oh.” I pursed my lips. “Then what were you thinking about? I missed that part.”
York and Vaughn chuckled as they tugged me to my feet. My brain was still moving in a series of left-hand turns, looping around foreplay as I watched my mage’s lips move.
I heard nothing.
Well, I heard something, but as I nodded my head in agreement, I realized that he was not telling me that he was going to eat me out on the basalt columns.
Godsdammit.
Briggs snapped his fingers in front of my face. When I returned to reality, Novak was wheezing through his laughter.
Palmer was staring at me like I was in trouble. “Did you hear any of that?”
“Not a word,” I replied.
