When the demon and the wolf shot in for the catch, four of the clones spun their arms in circles. Vines from the nearby tree restrained Vaughn and Palmer. All the Sloanes cackled as the fae and the mage were strung up by their ankles and left dangling.

Murphy and Miller burst into laughter. The night witch wiped at her face as tears streamed from her eyes. The warlock was bent at the waist, wheezing as he tried to settle himself.

“Second one on the right.”

“Got her,” Stone replied.

“I think I’ve found her. Novak, grab the one that just moved into the center,” I commanded, before addressing the mage. “Palmer, I’m going to catch her, but you have to tag her.”

“I need you to growl, Briggs,” Palmer told him.

The wolf chuckled. “You guys really want to see me get my ass kicked, don’t you?”

“I do.”

Novak’s response was lost in the thunderous snarl that came from the black wolf.

The last five Sloanes turned as a unit. Each face had a different expression, but I’d already found our girl.

Her eyes blazed at the challenge from Briggs.

The corner of her lip tilted in a sinful smirk.

I used her vines, looping them around her waist to drag her to the mage. I released him and Vaughn from her trap, and they dropped to their feet.

Palmer kissed her forehead and then rolled his eyes. “I win.”

She scowled, but there was no heat behind it. And just as fast, a smile graced her lips as she slipped out of my grasp too quickly.

Godsdammit. She’d let us catch her.

“What’s the funishment, sir?” she sassed.

“Oh, no.” The mage grinned, a sure sign that he was up to no good. “You enjoyed the last one too much. I got creative this time.”

She scoffed. “What have you chosen for me?”

“Forty-eight hours. No sex.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, he muted us and smirked at her.

Lo snorted with laughter. “I have five other mates, Palmer. You have to know this won’t work.”

She glanced at us, waiting for someone to agree, but we couldn’t. After a minute, her mouth popped open in disbelief.

“Are you serious?”

Novak and Briggs shook their heads. Stone tipped his back, silently laughing when she glared at the mage.

Sloane growled, leaning forward in annoyance. “Did you mute them?”

“Maybe.”

“Palmer!”

“Hmm?”

She sighed heavily, enunciating each word. “You can’t mute them so that they agree with you.”
