“Free you.” I pulled him closer as I took a step back. “Free your siblings.”

He smirked. “Then what’s step two?”

“Free my parents.”

“Three?”

I shrugged. “Do you need to ask?”

“It won’t be easy. She’ll—”

“Vaughn, look at me.” I tilted his face to meet mine before I kissed him gently. “There’s nothing beyond this door that will keep you from me. Not fae, not cells, not magic. Nothing. Let her try. I will tear all the worlds apart to find you.”

“I know, Princess. That’s more than I could ask for.”

Too swiftly, he snaked his arm around my waist, lifting me to meet his lips as the portal swallowed us whole. The rush of stepping into the unknown was something that couldn’t be replicated. And though I wanted to look around, I didn’t dare back away from him.

Then Vaughn stopped, breaking us apart as he set me on my feet.

I couldn’t take my eyes off him.

My fae was stunning on Earth, but this was different. He was breathtaking in his homeland.

His skin glimmered under the sunlight, the steel blue brightening until it nearly matched his eyes. The tips of his ears were pointed, the same as pureblood demons, but the edges of his cartilage had notches in them, man made knicks that symbolized something I couldn’t comprehend... Or maybe it was a vanity thing, like wearing earrings.

A thin black crown of metal and crystals appeared on his head from nowhere, causing me to blink in surprise.

His grin lit me from within, though.

Beyond his plump lips were bright white teeth, sharp as razors. They were also similar to demons, but they weren’t as long, making them fit perfectly in his mouth without extending his jaw. I was a little jealous of that. But mostly, I just wondered what those teeth felt like as they pierced the meaty flesh of my thighs.

I reached up, rubbing my thumb over the points as Vaughn opened his mouth to speak. He rolled his lips in, cocking a brow at me as his cheeks flushed a tint of pink.

Not from embarrassment.

No.

It was from the sheer amount of magic pouring into him. I could feel it trickling into me, though I couldn’t imagine what kind of rush he was getting.

The power showed in the way he moved as I prowled around him, fluid and light on his feet. His switch in demeanor told me this wasn’t the worried, control-freak fae I had known before today.

I’d seen him exhibit some smugness since I’d met him, but this was so much more. It was as if the power coursing through him had changed him in some slight way that manifested to his very core. And I hoped he held on to whatever it was.

Because confident Vaughn?

Yeah, he was fucking sexy.

“You’re staring at me like you want to eat me alive,” he murmured, his eyes hooded as he stalked my movements.

“I do,” I responded, circling him but getting nowhere.

He switched directions, keeping me in view as he warned, “I’ll bite back.”

“Yeah. I hope you fucking do. You’re definitely biting me with those later.”

“Let me see,” Novak playfully demanded.

“Fuck off,” Vaughn snarked, smiling sinfully at me.
