The giant glanced down, tilting his head as he examined his body. “Trousers would be nice.”
And then Pete wandered away, done with the conversation. Instead, he peeked into the houses, with Sloane staying on his heels. She wasn’t ready to leave him on his own, but she would be soon.
“I get that ‘all things considered’ comment you made,” Novak said to Briggs.
The wolf grunted. “I told you I’m not that fucking big.”
“Not anymore,” the vampire teased. “What do you think he does with a dick that big?”
“Do you think he gets light-headed from blood loss?” I asked, then added, “Medically speaking, I think something that size needs a bone to help support the weight.”
“Stop talking about his dick,” York growled as he bit his lips to hide his smile.
I rolled my eyes. “What else are we supposed to do?”
“He was looking too,” Novak told me before turning his accusation on the druid. “You’re looking too. You just don’t want to comment on it.”
“It’s literally the length of her arm,” Vaughn murmured.
“It’s thicker than my fist,” Briggs whispered back.
Novak rubbed his throat. “Blowjobs would be like swallowing a sword.”
York snorted. “It’s not sharp.”
“You guys are fucking assholes,” Palmer snapped.
“Feeling insecure?” Novak inquired, pushing the mage. “Me too.”
Vaughn sighed. “We have to stop.”
“Do you think he can hear us?” I grimaced. “Novak gives Briggs a hard time—”
“There are no hard times with Novak and me,” Briggs corrected. “Unless Sloane is between us.”
Novak tapped his chin. “Do you think it could reach his asshole?”
“I don’t think so,” the fae answered thoughtfully. “Maybe, but not hard.”
“Gods.” Palmer groaned. “Will you shut the fuck up already? They’re coming back.”
“Why do you look like you’re up to something?” Sloane asked as soon as we were in view.
The mage turned to her, switching the subject from trouser snakes to sticky magic. “How did you reverse the curse, Love?”
“I, uhm—” She snapped her attention from Pete to us, blinking rapidly as she tried to focus. “I just did. After Vaughn started healing the damage, my magic was stronger than the curse Alric placed. Maybe because so much time has passed… It’s weakened as the years have gone by?”
“Or maybe you’re simply stronger than him now?”
“I don’t know,” she whispered. “But I do know I didn’t reverse the entire curse. I can’t wipe it clean until Alric is dead.”

Night
We had taken Pete to Valano’s cottage, and Stone stayed with him while they waited for Franklin to show up. The pedmar—giant—was going home to Nashville to rest and regain strength before traveling to the Underworld.
Briggs and Palmer were making a mess in the palace kitchen as they cooked a dinner fit for royals. Honestly, I was scared to eat whatever it was… They didn’t have Earthly fruits, but my demon had assured me the food here was closer to Underworld cuisine. That only marginally helped my appetite.
