He wouldn’t spare me a single inch, though I would hardly complain about that while he was pushing me toward the cliff’s edge of pleasure with brutal force.

My orgasm was hellacious, tingling through me like a freezing burn, as if my veins had warmed enough to hurt after his frigid temperature.

His release came right after mine, his movements slowing to a forgiving pace. He rested his forehead between my shoulder blades, his cool breath sending goosebumps crawling across my overheated skin. All I could do was grin the dopiest of grins.

My fae… was definitely a dark prince.

And we had a problem if he thought this was a one and done kind of event.

“You broke my back,” I commented absently as the ice holding me down melted away to expose frostbitten skin.

Vaughn chuckled, rubbing his thumb over the deep cuts on my forearms. The wounds knitted together immediately, all but the black and blue bruises on my wrists.

I propped up on my elbows, testing the healed spinal injury before I stood straight. He eased my tights back into place, and I frowned.

“They’re going to stick to my legs.”

“Leave it,” he stated firmly, causing me to tilt my head.

“I’ll smell.”

“You’ll smell like me.”

I snorted. “That’s very animalistic of you. Have you ever had dried cum stick clothing to your thighs while you hike through the jungle?”

“It’s a forest.”

“Same difference.”

He shook his head.

“Fine. I’ll leave it. No telling where a stream or a sink is here… Let alone a washcloth,” I unenthusiastically agreed, then sighed as I glanced out the entrance of the temple. “I need to heal that tree before we leave, too.”

No one was quite sure where Sloane’s mood change was stemming from, not that she didn’t have two-hundred reasons to be uncharacteristically ill. But we couldn’t fix anything if we didn’t know where it was broken.

Or that was my thinking.

Vaughn leaned in, whispering something to the dragon before snatching Sloane away from me. And I didn’t say a word, because if anyone could get her to work it out, it would be the fae.

Maybe Novak… though his lack of privacy might piss her off more.

“Well,” I drawled. “That should be interesting.”

“Fighting or fucking?” the idiotic vampire asked as they disappeared into the forest.

“Twenty on fighting,” Palmer replied absentmindedly.

“Both,” Novak countered, then chastised the mage. “You should know her better by now.”

I slapped Palmer’s shoulder. “I have to agree with him, Mage.”

“She doesn’t fight with me and then fuck me,” he shot back. “I’m taking the safe bet.”

“Because you’re a jackass.” I chuckled. “I haven’t been in the same shit as you, so I reap the rewards while you work yourself out of the doghouse.”
