He gave me an amused look. “I paid up. You know why.”
“Bitch!” Jack bellowed, causing Blaire to spit out her drink. “Lo! Sloane! Sister from other misters!”
I scrubbed a hand down my face, leaving my guys to find my brother. “One summons was enough.”
“I wasn’t sure you heard me,” he joked.
“I did. What is it?”
He shook a new bottle at me. “You’re not drunk.”
I sighed and snatched it from his hand. “I’m a little tipsy.”
We resumed our post at the bar, leaning into each other as we passed the tequila back and forth. Our night was just getting started, the party amping up until the room filled with laughter and joy.
“Oh. I almost forget.” I bumped Jack with my elbow. “Do you remember where we stashed Hilda the Hateful’s body? Her time is up in September.”
He whistled under his breath. “Didn’t we move it to your attic?”
“I didn’t.”
“Are you positive?”
I scoffed, wobbling my head. “Like seventy-two percent.”
“Well… We’ve got two months to find her.”
“Let’s hope the world doesn’t fall apart before then.”
Jack sat on the stool beside me, propping his head on my shoulder as we finished our second bottle.
All in all… It was a great night. I mingled with our friends, getting to know some of them better. There was a fuck load of flirting between me and my guys during the games we played. I spent time with Jack, just the two of us, drinking and joking.
The supernatural world was safe.
We were celebrating our victory.
And for the first time in weeks, we had an entire weekend off.
As I replayed all the moments that led up to this, binge watching them like my favorite TV show, Jack snorted.
“Is that a movie montage in your head, bitch? Really?”
I grinned at him, shrugging the shoulder he wasn’t leaning on. “It’s been a crazy couple of weeks.”
“It has been crazy, yeah?” he said softly. “I don’t even know what to think of it.”
“Fucking insane,” I answered. “That’s what I think of it. What about your time away?”
“Oh, bitch,” Jack drawled. “Let me show you some shit.”
