And her eyes only soften when I’m within striking distance.
My breath catches in my throat. My lungs refuse to inflate as he stalks toward me. When he’s close enough to touch, I finally inhale.
Walker.
He’s here. Living right behind me.
And Drew fucking knew.
I want to say a million things, but the only words that form aren’t what’s on my mind.
“You fucking threw me.”
“You scared Forrest.”
“Who the fuck is Forrest?” I ask, then shake my head. “You threw me over the fence. I would have shifted back if you’d said something.”
Walker shrugs. “Then you would have been naked.”
“So throwing me was the best option you had?”
“Kody?” he whispers as he steps into my personal space.
“What?”
“Stop arguing and kiss me.”
I almost scoff.
Hell, I almost shove him away.
I almost do a lot of things… But I don’t.
He picks me up and pushes us through the back door into the kitchen. As it slams shut behind us, his mouth descends upon mine, still greedy and wanton, just like he’s always been with me.
Walker Lawless doesn’t do halves.
He devours.
And only surfaces from his assault to take a breath.
We hit the sofa before I realize we’ve been moving through the house. I’m in his lap, my arms wrapped around his neck as I try to kiss the life right out of him.
I might shed some tears if I wasn’t so pissed about him throwing me to my death.
I mean, cobras can swim, and so can I. There was no actual danger… except maybe missing the fucking pool.
What a dick.
But he’s my dick.
And I’ve waited years to be right here again. On his lap. In his arms. Surrounded by his scent of earth and saltwater.
As I tug at his shirt, he breaks away from me, hungry eyes eating up the naked sight before him. I expect him to stop this frantic thing between us. But this is what happens when you have two predators who love to ambush their prey.
I won’t stop him.
I’ve craved his touch for far too long to ruin this moment for myself.
