“You’re so wound up,” I teased, swirling my tongue around the head of his cock.
“Are you doing magic right now? The guy beside us is making eye contact with me, and I’m not sure if I’m into it or not.”
I grinned around him, content to not explain the glamor I had in place. I’d been practicing holding the illusions while doing other things… Mostly mundane things since killing Anahein. This was a field test of sorts to push my limits while playing with my vampire.
“Do you think anyone is sitting in traffic right now, wondering if there are magical creatures around them, glamouring themselves to look normal while they’re getting a blow job?” Novak asked after hearing my thoughts. “Because I’m wondering about that…”
“Novak?”
“Hmm?” he hummed, peering down at me.
“Shut up.”
Finding Hyde
Monday, February 10th
Late Night
I couldn’t put my finger on it... But something was amiss.
Liquid dripped down the inside of the few windows we could see, and the stench of fear-drenched blood oozed from the brick building.
Once we were inside, the scene was easier to read than I would have preferred. Though my preferences took a backseat when my sister was taken.
Amiss was probably the wrong word to describe the general feeling the old factory was exuding.
Especially where Sloane was involved.
And the moment Hyland went missing, Lo made it her business, her sole purpose. She dropped everything to comb through the Underworld, torturing information from people who didn’t have loose lips.
“It’s too quiet,” Arwen whispered.
I couldn’t disagree with him, but I knew why the only noises we could hear were soft and distant.
Arwen Osman had been on many jobs with me, as a friend and asset who wasn’t easily replaced. Like always, he prowled behind me, dagger in his left hand, magic crackling in his right hand, ready to fight.
He’d never been on a job quite like this, though.
I had an array of weapons strapped to my chest, too. But so far, I hadn’t needed them. Every house or hiding spot we’d been in tonight was a disaster. There was no way to salvage the structures, so I’d positioned my guys outside of each one, hoping to ward off curious demons.
And while I knew who the culprit was, I wouldn’t dare stop her.
We were after the same thing.
Same person.
Her treasure. My baby sister.
Blue, the gorgon who led a horde of demons in Oren, had walked into my house and snatched Hyde right out of her bed. My seventeen-year-old sister was at the mercy of a sadistic demon with a grudge.
We had just passed the forty-five-hour mark. And we were all done waiting for more intel.
Arwen came with me to search the known hideouts of Blue, but Lo was tearing through the flatland of Oren like a tornado on steroids.
The same way she whipped through our house as a young teen after finding out my mother had killed my twin brother while beating us. Sloane had killed my mother without remorse, and the rest of my family had been grateful.
No one had ever watched my back like Sloane did.
