I thought he was like me. Maybe he’s the opposite.
His dark eyes bore into me, and if he wasn’t strapped to the cross and completely vulnerable to me right now, I’d be terrified.
“So,” I croon to him, spinning my bat around, “this is what it feels like to be on the other side.”
Something about the way my words echo in this place is fitting.
For a second, I have to bite back my own laugh. And not because I find any of this funny. But because if someone had told me a month ago that I’d be willingly standing in Kaleb’s terrifying warehouse, looking at the most dangerous man I’d ever met strapped to his own St. Andrew’s Cross, I’d have called them crazy.
Life sure does have a twisted sense of humour.
“Where is Kai?” he murmurs, so quietly I barely catch it.
My face twist into a snarl. “Maybe in the room you just left. The one where you beat the shit out of him.”
The corner of his lip curves, but his eyes hold nothing but coldness.
“You know nothing, Roxanne,” he growls.
Scoffing, I tighten my grip on Kitty. “Then tell me.”
Because deep down, I want to be wrong. Deep down, there is something in Kaleb’s darkness that calls to me the same way Kai’s does.
That night he showed me how to kill Harrison. It made me feel bigger, stronger, and more alive than I thought possible. He gave me that, and I don’t want to lose it.
He just watches me.
It’s unnerving how still he is. Not fighting his restraints or yelling, the way Harrison did.
Instead, Kaleb studies me, as though he knows exactly what I’m going to do before I’ve even thought of it. It scares me as much as it excites me.
“I’ve seen his back,” I grit out, trying to push the pain from my mind. “I’ve seen the pain on his body. You expect me to believe you had nothing to do with that after what I just saw?”
His eyes harden on me. “I expect nothing from you.”
I take a step closer, until we’re barely an arm’s length apart, throwing Kitty to the ground. The clatter of wood on concrete is deafening. My hand slides into my pocket, and I pull out something more fun.
His pretty knife.
Smirking, I hold it in front of his face, clicking it open with a satisfying sound.
“I was so hoping you would decide to do this the hard way,” I murmur, biting my lip. “I’d much prefer to have my fun with you first.”
His jaw feathers, and I grip his shirt, bringing the blade to the material. Glinting steel slices through it with ease, so sexy a shiver of arousal curls down my spine. The black material flutters open, exposing his carved abdomen and smooth muscle. His torso is a canvas of black ink and dark skin, and I ache to run my tongue through the dips and bulges of muscle.
Instead, I dig my nails into his abs and drag them over the hard planes, watching the muscles jump under my touch. He hisses through his teeth.
He glares down at me as my hand grips his belt buckle. Our eyes stay joined in a silent battle as I work it open. If he can guess what I'm going to do to him, he doesn’t say it. Doesn't show it.
That's fine.
I'll have him talking and begging any second now.
I learnt from the best, after all.
My smile curves bigger as I pop the button and slide the zipper open, yanking his pants and underwear down with one hand. From the way his legs are spread and strapped, I can barely work them to the middle of his thighs, but that's okay. That's more than enough for what I have planned.
His thick cock hangs heavy, and my mouth waters at the sight of him naked, strapped to the cross. It's unlike anything I've seen before.
