“I’m just going to duck to the toilet,” I murmur, trying to hide my tears, even though my voice is thick with emotion.

I need to pull myself together. Need to scrub Ethan’s blood off my face and hands and I really need to fucking pee.

The sink runs red. My eyes watch it lazily circle the drain before the water starts to turn clear again. The last of Ethan. The last of Isaac.

I don’t look in the mirror, unsure if I can handle who or what is looking back at me. It doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.

Because they love me. Me!

Sitting on the toilet, my bladder cheers in relief. Something that is never talked about in fights is that there is never any time to use the toilet. Surely they should make allotted toilet times.

Okay, I must be tired.

I reach for the toilet paper, dreaming about crawling into bed between the two twins and holding them as tightly as I can. And then, sleeping for approximately three years.

I freeze. Red.

My heart stops as I glance down between my legs. Where am I bleeding from?

Oh.

Turns out, being around so much blood and violence, I expect blood to be from a wound and not from my period. Something that I get every fucking month.

A laugh falls out of me. An exhausted, unhinged snort that quickly turns into a sigh.

Of course.

Of fucking course.

Somewhere between killing my brother and thinking I’m about to die, my uterus apparently decided it was feeling left out from all the bloodshed.

Of all the nights to get my period...

“Perfect,” I whisper, dropping my head into my hands. “Really great timing.”

I quickly search the cupboards, but I don’t expect to find tampons in the apartment of two men who barely own enough furniture to make it seem like people actually live here.

Washing my hands, I stare at the bathroom door. Maddy will have some upstairs.

Both of them are waiting outside the door, watching the space like I might magically vanish in the small bathroom.

“I need to go,” I gesture up towards the roof. Towards Maddy’s apartment, “duck out for just a second.”

Kaleb snorts, stepping in front of me.

“I don’t think you quite understand what is happening here,” he murmurs softly.

My eyes fall to the ground, embarrassment heating my cheeks.

“I promise I’ll come back,” I plead.

“Where are you going?” Kai steps next to Kaleb.

“I have my period,” I whisper before peeking up at them.

I feel like a schoolgirl, getting my monthlys for the first time. Something about admitting it to these big, sexy men makes me squirm.

A rumbly growl sounds in one of their chests. Maybe both?
