Trick or Treat for the Desperate Devil

His wing shifts, blocking my path.
I stop.
“Move.”
“We need to talk.”
“No, we don't.”
“Yes, we fucking do. But first,” he growls as his hands reach out, cupping my face, tugging me to him.
I don’t mean to give in. Really, I don’t.
But when the Devil leans in to kiss me, I’m helpless to resist. So, I let him. Hell, I encourage him. And yeah, I kiss him back.
My phone rings again. I push against his chest, and he releases me with a growl. Damian's eyes snap toward it.
“Is that her?”
“Probably. But don't—”
He grabs it with his tail. But I snatch it away before he can click ANSWER.
“Absolutely not.”
“Give me the phone.”
A laugh bursts out of me. Not a nice one.
“Oh, that's funny.”
“Belinda—”
“No.”
I shove my phone into my pocket and duck beneath his wing.
“Sweet, where are you going?”
“Downstairs.”
“But we need to talk.”
“No, you need to talk. Apparently everyone needs to tell me what they think I should do today. And you know what? Belinda Ramos is officially closed for the day!”
He follows me into the hallway.
“What the fuck does that mean?”
“It means I have work to do and you’re not on my schedule.”
“Fuck the B&B.”
I whirl around.
“Excuse me?”
Wrong answer, Devil.
