“Sorry, but why are you calling me the Ramos Witch?” I ask, completely flabbergasted.

“Did you not tell her, Celeste Ramos?”

I glance at my mother. Then back at Margot.

“Actually, um, no. I’ve only just realized it.”

Margot's eyebrows rise.

“I see the family power has dwindled then,” she says with a sneer towards my mother and sister that I absolutely relish.

Then she turns to me and she smiles.

“Well, Belinda Leeds, it sometimes skips a generation or three, but your family line has been known to produce a Witch of extraordinary powers every now and then. It seems you are the Ramos Witch.”

“Um, wow, I had no idea. And I know Damian and I are mated, but my surname is actually still Ramos.”

Damian groans.

“What?”

“Don't start.”

“I've only just arrived.”

She reaches out, then pauses before touching me.

“May I?”

The question surprises me. I nod. Margot takes my hand. Magic flares.

Red.

And something in Margot's expression changes. Wonder.

“Oh, my.”

My pulse jumps.

“What?”

She looks at Damian. Then back at me.

“My dear, congratulations.”

“On what?”

Her gaze flicks toward my tail and my red skin.

“You’re expecting.”

Damian steps closer.
