Maybe I’ve just had too much to drink.

“I.. I don’t feel too good.” I murmur against his chest but it feels like no one can hear me, like my voice is barely a whisper. I try to pull away when a deafening crash explodes through the house. Immediately people start screaming and crying, and it’s enough to quickly sober me up and release myself from this man’s hold.

People flood out of the back door and into the garden, all of them covered in blood. Wounds as deep as rivers cover their bodies and amongst it all stands a guy, covered head to toe in black clothing, skull makeup covering his face and a bloodied baseball bat hanging in his grasp.

I freeze on the spot. Unable to move my feet. Fear locking me in place.

“My dear, little Alina. You didn’t think you could run away from me that easily did you? That I’d just let you go? I told you I’d kill everyone who looked at you in this outfit and I meant it. Now I’m gonna claim what’s rightfully mine.”

Ethan..

My brother is here and he’s battered all these people.

Tears spring in my eyes and without even thinking I will my legs to move and sprint across the garden, somehow dodging Ethan’s advances and straight into the house where people groan and wail in pain on the floor. Thick blood covers the open space and the whole scene resembles a massacre. Ethan’s heavy boots seem to shake the ground with every step he takes and I sprint up the stairs, hearing him call out behind me.

“I’m coming for you, little sister. Ready or not.”

My sister’s parting words slice through me like a serrated blade, digging deep into the muscle inside my chest that I so desperately wish didn’t beat for her. I wish I could rip it out with my bare hands and crush it into nothing, to stop this fucking pain she’s put on me.

How could she?

I’ve done everything for her, protected her from the evil that plagues this earth. I love her, and it’s killing me. She’s killing me.

Alina is so very wrong if she thinks I’ll just let her go that easily, that I’ll just accept her sharp words and move on. I’ve claimed her for my own and she’ll do well to remember that.

Myself, Luca and Kieran pull up to Chloe’s house. Heavy bass music practically rattles the street around us, a large crowd fills the front garden and even more spill into the overly expensive house. Each of them loaded up to the eyeballs with alcohol and no doubt drugs. These posh cunts have got their mummy and daddy’s money to burn and it shows.

Kicking the stand down on my bike, I flick off the engine and slip the key inside my jeans then climb off to meet Kieran and Luca. Each of their faces are painted in black and white, a menacing skull gracing their features, just like my own.

Kieran pulls out three baseball bats from his backpack and hands us one each. “Ready to cause some shit?” He teases with an evil glint in his eye. Adrenaline rushes through my veins like a freight train, threatening to burst free. I can still feel the rage from my sister’s words, bubbling at the surface. It’s spreading through me like a virus and I’m more than ready to cave someone’s face in.

Luca takes the last bat from Kieran and gives it a quick swing before placing it on his shoulder. “Oh, I’m more than ready. These pricks won’t know what’s hit 'em.”

I grip the bat tightly and give one last look to Luca and Kieran. “Happy Halloween boys.” A shit eating grin spreads across my face, then we make our way over to Chloe’s house to spill some blood.

Not one single person takes notice of us as we enter the house, they’re all too coked up out of their minds, bloodstreams filled with toxic poisons. Bodies sway and grind to the heavy music, clouds of smoke settle in the air from the joints that are being passed around from person to person.

My gaze scans the room, determined to find my sister. She doesn’t belong in a place like this, especially with a friend like Chloe. I can take her away from this. Give us the life that we deserve. We can be free from this shit hole.

Kieran comes to stand at the side of me, then leans to speak over the deafening music. “Isn’t that your sister?” He lifts his bat to point into the garden where Alina sways on her feet, her body enveloped by someone else. Someone that isn’t me. Fury and possessiveness like I’ve never known floods my system like a tidal wave.

Why the fuck is he touching her like that? And why is she letting him? Doesn’t she realise the mistake she’s made? The people I will have to kill because they’ve seen her in that fucking skimpy nun’s outfit, for allowing that scumbag to put his hands on her. I’ll snap his wrists and flay his skin from his bones, right before his eyes.

Alina isn’t innocent by all means and I’ll prove that tonight. I’ll have her begging on her knees for me, and me alone. No one gets to touch what’s mine and lives.

I grind my teeth together and give Kieran a quick nod. “Fuck this place up. I’m collecting my sister.”

With that, they both spread off in different directions and the moment I see that fuck boy outside groping my sister’s ass, I lose it. The last ounce of my soul slips away from me in jagged pieces and I swing the bat, connecting it with whoever’s skull is unfortunate to come in contact with it. Agonosing screams overthrow the heavy music as the three of us cause absolute carnage. Rich red blood sprays the white walls like splattered paint with every strike of the bat, teeth scatter to the floor, bones snapping like frail twigs and I fucking love it.

For too long I’ve kept this darkness inside of me. Trapping it like a deadly animal and now it can finally be free to claim the lives of these not so innocent people. You see, these aren’t just some random college kids. The people within these walls ruin lives, they take and take and crush people down to nothing, thinking they’re above everyone else. Especially Chloe, she doesn’t deserve my sister’s friendship. She uses and abuses her, takes her for granted, belittles her and I won’t have it. No one can hurt my sister, but me.

Bloodied bodies crash to the floor with every swing and I barrel through the crowd with only one thing in sight, Alina. I’m like a missile ready to strike.

People clamber on their hands and knees to try and avoid my wrath. I’m inches from the back door when one idiot decides to test me. He cracks a bottle on the door frame, shards clatter to the floor and he begins swinging it aimlessly, hoping that it’ll slice me but I have the advantage here. He’s clearly very drunk and his reactions are delayed.

I grip the bat in both hands and when he tries to swing the bottle again at my face, I crack the bat against his wrist, causing him to drop the bottle and groan in pain. His hand dangles at an odd angle, with the backs of his fingers brushing against his forearm. The moment he notices that I’ve snapped his wrist in half, puke spills out of his mouth like a volcano and splats on the floor. A mixture of red alcohol and bits of half digested, chunky food settles into the polished wooden floors.

I may deal with all kinds of bodily fluids on a daily basis, but that’s fucking disgusting.
