He looks up over my head toward the door. “Who the fuck is that?”
“Ignore it.” I grab his head and redirect it back to my neck. “More thermonuclear, less distractions. Concentrate.”
Zzzzz. Zzzzz….
He narrows his eyes. “Nobody can get up here.” He pushes off me. “I have to check this.” He storms to his office.
Zzzzz. Zzzzz….
I roll my eyes, the fucking doorbell is cockblocking me.
He reappears with my clothes bundled under his arm. “Get up.”
“What’s going on?” I frown.
“The police are here.”
“What?”
He pulls me off the floor by the hand and passes me my clothes. “Go upstairs and shower, I’ll get rid of them.”
“Why are the police here?” I whisper in a panic.
“Fuck knows.” He points to the stairs. “Now. And if they want to speak to you, you know nothing.”
My eyes widen in a panic. “Why would they want to speak to me?”
“Go,” he whispers angrily. “Run.”
“Oh my God, Valentino.” I wave my arms around in a panic. “I’m naked. I’m just so naked.”
“More reason to go upstairs, Anna.” He holds his hands up. “What the fuck are you doing?”
“Arghh.” I take the steps two at a time and run to the bathroom. I turn the shower on and get in. “Fuck, it’s cold.” I wince as I make myself stand under the water, should have waited for the water to warm up at least. My heart is racing. What do I do? What do I do? Wash my hair, then it looks like a legitimate shower.
Yes…. That is a solid alibi.
Nobody wets their hair unless it’s for real.
I put my head under the water, damn these stupid police, now I’m going to have to dry my hair before I go to bed.
What the hell is going on down there?
Ten minutes later, the bathroom door opens and Val appears.
“Thank God, they’ve gone,” I whisper. “What happened?”
“I have to accompany them down to the police station.”
“What?” I stammer. “When? Now? What do you mean?” I begin to jump on the spot.” Is something wrong?”
“No it’s fine, just precautionary. Questioning about the yacht today.”
“So why do you have to go to the police station, can’t they do it here?”
“That’s what I said.”
“Valentino. I’m freaking out.”
