Jayden snickered.
Roman walked them to the door and stepped into the house after she unlocked it.
Jayden hugged Roman. “Thanks for today. I had a lot of fun.”
Roman cupped the boy’s head against his chest. “I’m glad. We’ll spend more time with them.”
“That would be great. I’m heading to bed. Night.”
Beth kissed his temple. “Night, I’ll be up in a little bit.”
Roman watched Jayden race up the stairs and then turned to Beth and pulled her into his arms.
“I won’t stay. I know he has school, and you have work.”
“Mondays are always hectic.”
He nodded. “Yes. I have to tell you I won’t be able to wait until Friday to see you. This last week was horrible.”
“I agree,” she said and stared up at him. “I don’t want to wait either.”
“What will work best for you?”
Beth looked away and bit her lip. “How about if I bring you lunch?”
“I can do that. When?”
“Wednesday?”
He closed his eyes and pressed his forehead against hers. “It will work, but the thought of not seeing you for two days will make me grumpy.”
She laughed. “Do you get grumpy?”
“Yes, but never with you and Jayden.”
She smiled.
Her stomach flipped when he turned all serious and then bent toward her to take her lips. He pressed and nipped at her bottom lip before thrusting his tongue into her mouth.
She clung to his shoulders as he took her breath away.
He groaned and raised his head. “Jesus, baby. I should go. I hate to, but this could get out of hand quickly.”
She nodded.
He gave her one more kiss and walked out the door. “Lock it.”
“Night.”
“Night, baby,” he said through the door before he walked away.
Beth listened to his car drive away before she turned off the lights and walked upstairs.
She knocked on Jayden’s door.
“Come in.”
He was sitting up in bed reading. “Hey, buddy. Do you have everything ready for tomorrow?”
