Renovating The Heart Of A Beast

Honor's hair was neatly braided to the back in eight to ten-stitch braids and so was Roberto’s.
“Y’all had a girl’s night so we had a handicap pride night. We went out and had drinks, even flirted a little to see if we still got it since we got shot up.” Ju’well grilled Honor and she nervously laughed what Roberto said off.
“Don’t listen to this nigga babe, you know he full of shit.” She leaned over and pecked Ju’well lips. Roberto plopped down next to Era and kissed the side of her face. His hand instantly went to her stomach.
“Maybe this baby will slow me down. Ever since I killed my husband back in Mexico, I’ve been in heat and on fire. The men just can’t let me breathe, I guess I’m a hot commodity now.” His eyes popped open, and he fanned himself, covering his mouth with his pink nails.
“Opps, I wasn’t supposed to say that.” He chuckled and picked up the glass of wine that I didn’t finish. He took three big gulps and finished the drink
“Roberto, stop it. You wouldn’t kill a damn ant.” Ju’well laughed and we joined her. Roberto was too damn cute and sweet as ever. He was so caring and loving that I couldn’t even imagine him fighting.
“I love that for y’all… its just too fucking cute. I won’t try to prove you girls wrong.” He stood up and walked behind Honor’s wheelchair.
“If you ladies will excuse us, we have to go discuss important things.” He started wheeling her away before we could respond. He purposely switched his narrow ass away making his small butt cheeks jiggle with each step.
“You really think he a killer?” Ju’well asked us and I shrugged because I wouldn’t put it past him. He had more security than ever since the incident at the club. I still didn’t understand how Jarei and his men got a chance to even shoot Roberto. Era said that Roberto jumped in front of Honor when the bullets were flying which explained why they became even more closer.
“I never thought, I’d be a killer but I am. I don’t put it past him honestly.” I spoke the truth. It surprised me sometimes how I didn’t feel how I thought I should after killing. I came to grips with it and didn’t really think about it much, unless it was brought up.
“Yea you right, Roberto is just too damn cute though.” Ju’well smiled.
“I think…” Era moved close and lowered her voice. The look on her face showed that she was getting ready to spill the tea about something.
“I think he really is, and honestly… Roberto ain’t shit to fuck with. We got the good side of him. He comes over Soulful house a lot, he practically took over a room at his house for when he visits. I hear him on the phone sometimes saying things like end it or threats. When he talks business, his voice doesn’t even sound the same. I mean how can I explain it…” She touched her chin, looking like she was thinking.
“It be sounding like he calls the shots and be doing some heavy illegal mob shit. Voice be deep as hell and his whole demeanor shifts, he sounds all dark and deep by the voice.” I don’t know why but we all fell out laughing hard until my stomach felt like it was twisted in knots.
“I’m not lying, this laying low shit has been driving me crazy. The only good thing is being around my man, his sisters and Roberto. Berto is also planning to have us all come to Mexico in a few weeks, he said he wants to show us all a good time since we like his extended family.” Era added that extra part in.
“You so damn nosey, you probably be all around that big ass house fishing for info.” Ju’well squinted her eyes at Era.
“You damn right. That’s my house now and as the woman of the house, I need to know what the hell going on. Shit, your girl ain’t no saint. What you think they down the hall talking about?” Era tilted her head for emphasis and I just nodded my head because Era did have a point.
“Shut up and find a movie for us to watch. I’m going to start being just as nosey as you.”
“I think Soulful, Matthew and Honor…. Well, I think they all do illegal things.” I suggested, I didn’t care honestly because whatever they were doing they were smart about it.
“Nunnn unnn, don’t add my man, Soulful used to be in the streets, now he’s a hundred percent legal chiii.” Era defended her man.
“Well, I think its sexy.” I added thinking about how fine Matthew was.
“I think its sexy!” Ju’well mocked me.
“Girl, that man fucked the shit out of you and he did it good. Got you acting like a gangsta’s wife and talking all that hot shit like you really bout it, bout it.” I giggled and held my fingers up like a gun. I made shooting sounds and they fell out laughing hard.
“I wish a mother fucker would try to play with me now baby.” I was feeling myself and couldn’t knock the smile off of my face.
“It’s mutha fucka!” Era laughed and Ju’well joined. I could feel my face heat up.
“I know that’s right friend, because I wish a hoe or nigga would too! Pregnant and all, we with the shits!” We all cosigned what Era had said by adding our two cents.
For the rest of the night we laughed and watched movies. We pigged out and laughed even more when Roberto and Honor joined us hours later. This went on until about two in the morning, everyone fell asleep right in the living room on Honor's huge sectional couch. I wanted a big couch like this, big and comfy, it ran along the wall into a big U-shape so we had plenty of room.
Honor brought out a lot of pillows and blankets and everyone except me and Era fell asleep. I guess they thought the movie Waiting To Exhale was too boring for their taste. It was Era’s turn to pick.
Era laid in front of me and yawned, I followed suit feeling my eyes growing heavy by the second. My mind jumped back and forth between Heaven and Matthew.
“I’m so happy and proud of you Praylah, you’ve come along way and I like the woman that your becoming. Don’t second guess your happiness, because you deserve it. Just promise that you will always come to me if you need someone to vent to or even just be there for you. I feel like you won’t really have to like that because you met your real soul mate.” I smiled and moved over to my side.
