Rejected By the Winter Wolf

He grunts and draws back. His magic is still under my skin, thawing me from the inside out, and it seems to combine with his stranglehold over my emotions. He pulls out and thrusts back in slowly. His gaze bores into mine.

“Don’t look away,” he orders, his voice pained.

I nod, and he moves faster. His thrusts inside me stoke a fire, until pleasure zips through my core. He reaches between us and rubs my clit, rolling his hips to get even deeper. I continue to stare into his eyes even as he brings me to the edge—and then shoves me over.

I come, my eyelids fluttering. I try to keep them open, but the pleasure is unbearable. There’s something different about coming with him inside me. I clench around him, trying not to scream.

Kian’s grip on my hips is bruising. He chases his climax, and his noises slip past his gritted teeth.

He comes inside me. For a second time.

I don’t have the energy to be irritated or even slightly upset by it. I just hold on to him, breathless with what we did.

He steps sideways, taking me with him, and turns up the heat on the water. He pulls out of me. The loss is… startling. Like I was fine, and now I’m empty. He lowers my legs back to the floor.

There’s a seat built into the shower stall, and he motions for me to sit. I go, mainly because my legs are trembling now that I’m back on my feet.

The vampire put us on the same side for once, and we gladly went. Easily put aside our own angers and ambitions and just existed. Imagine if it was like this all the time?

If we didn’t have to return to reality.

“The witch who cursed the wolf all those years ago,” Kian starts in a low voice, adjusting the showerhead so it sprays my legs, “left a piece of her magic in him.”

My eyes widen.

He kneels in front of me with a washcloth, blocking the water. He squirts soap onto it and runs it over the sole of my foot, taking his time and pushing his thumb into my arch. I groan at the sensation.

“Fire magic,” he continues. “It was passed down through our bloodline for ages. We don’t have massive amounts of power, but enough to become alphas and to keep our pack safe.”

“But…”

He runs the soapy cloth up my calf. “But I don’t have fire magic.”

Water. And a whole hell of a lot of it. I bite my tongue. He has to know… I mean, unless his magic is usually barred to him the way mine is to me.

He parts my legs and washes higher, swiping between the apex of my legs. I lean back, bracing myself on my elbows, while he cleans me. He sighs. The sight of him kneeling in front of me is almost criminal.

“Astra,” he whispers. “Do you forgive me?”

“That’s a loaded question,” I reply carefully. My stomach flips.

I feel the prick of magic in the air, and warm water rushes over my skin. It sweeps the suds away, down my legs and past Kian.

“I’ve never been without my wolf. And then you left, and I thought…”

He suddenly groans, jerking forward.

“Uh-oh,” he grunts.

“Uh-oh?” I reach for his shoulder. When my fingers connect with his skin, I gasp.

He’s burning hot.

“He’s waking up—” Kian lets out another groan and curls farther into himself. His voice gets raspy when he says, “I’m pretty sure I’m going to lose control in a second. I’m trying…”

Oh, fuck.

A wolf in a Las Vegas hotel room would not go over well. Not for me, or him, or the regular humans… and the vampire will probably murder both of us.
