“Spread your legs,” I growl.
She immediately follows my orders. This woman is going to be the death of me. But oh, what a glorious death it will be.
Chapter 24
Holding Pattern – The hardest part isn't catching the wave. It's not knowing whether to paddle or let it pass.
May
The sun streaming through my window hits my face and I blink my eyes open. I try to lift my arms to stretch but they’re weighed down by a giant’s arm.
Brock.
He surprised the hell out of me last night. The chemistry between us has been obvious from the first moment we met, but I never thought he’d give in to it. I never thought I’d experience the pleasure of him bringing me to orgasm.
But that’s exactly what happened last night. Several times. My body aches in places it hasn’t ached in entirely too long. Sex has never been this good before. Maybe I needed a grumpy football player to show me how it’s done. And show me he did.
I cuddle into his body. It’s possible I wiggle my ass at him.
He moans as his arm tightens around me. “Pint-sized.”
I roll to face him. His eyes flicker open and he smiles at me. Smoking smugglers! His full on smile could be used as a weapon.
“Good morning.”
“Good…Crap. It’s morning?”
“Yes, it happens every day when the sun rises. Although, technically, the sun doesn’t have to rise.”
“I don’t have time for you to be cute. Get dressed.”
He launches off the bed and nearly slams into the wall. There isn’t much space in my bedroom since I insisted on putting a king-sized bed in here.
“Fucking hell,” he mutters as he rubs his forehead.
“Why am I getting dressed?” I sit up in bed. When the sheet falls down revealing my naked body, I tug it up again. I feel exposed. Which shouldn’t be possible after the night we shared but Brock is being weird.
“I need to get back to the resort. I left Jace alone all night.”
“Has he never spent the night alone before?” He’s sixteen not six.
“No. He’s not an adult. I fucked up. I should have never let myself get carried away.”
My shoulders fall. He regrets our night together. While I want to scream from the rooftops that Brock Porter is my man.
Hold on. He’s not my man. Obviously.
But I want him to be.
Shit. I want the grumpy football player for more than one night. What was I thinking? That I could have some sexy times between the sheets with this captivating man and forget all about it the next day? Let him walk away?
Ha! No way. No how. I want to tie him to the bed and never let him leave. I want him.
Holy mermaids. I’m falling for him.
My lungs freeze and I forget how to breathe. I’m falling for Brock. And meanwhile he wants to run away and forget about our night together.
He doesn’t even know the worst thing about me – how I can’t give him a family – and he’s ready to run away already.
