Mad, sitting on the bench near the wall as he unlaced his boots, gave Luck a long look. “You put wet socks in there.”

Luck’s smile faltered. “Allegedly.”

“I watched you.”

Luck gave him a sheepish smile.

Mad pointed toward the pile. “We’re washing it tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow is supposed to be colder,” he whined.

“Then, you shouldn’t have put wet socks in the laundry bin,” Mad told him. “Besides, the horde should come in the next week or so, and the laundry has to be done before then.”

I couldn’t hide my giggle.

Oxi stepped behind me, sliding his arms around my waist. His lips brushed the side of my neck, and they still held a trace of the cold outside. “Let the clothes rot,” he murmured.

Mad looked at him.

“No,” Mad and I said at the same time.

Oxi kissed the slope of my shoulder. “Just until tomorrow.”

Mad’s mouth twitched.

I laughed and leaned back against Oxi’s chest. “We’re all doing laundry tomorrow.”

“Whatever you say, snowfire,” Oxi whispered into my skin.

Keith closed the door behind him and latched it, cutting off the faint sounds from the rest of the Oasis. The fire in the small stove popped softly, wrapping the room in warmth and a dim orange glow. His gaze moved over each of us before settling on me.

Even after a year, there were moments when seeing him standing in our home still stole my breath. His hair had grown longer, brushing the tops of his ears. The harshness survival had carved into his face had softened, though the scars remained. The one from the jagged window stretched across his upper arm, raised and pale now instead of angry and red.

But we were all alive.

Oxi’s fingers slipped beneath the hem of my shirt. “I can’t wait to be naked with you.”

“You say that like we haven’t been sleeping naked together for months,” Mad chuckled.

Oxi lifted his head. “Knowing something will happen does not diminish my enthusiasm for it.”

“You were naked this morning,” Luck added.

“And I enjoyed that, too.”

“You were complaining that my knee was in your back.” Luck huffed.

“I can love nudity and hate your knees.”

Luck gasped. “My knees are excellent.”

“Your knees are painful.”

Keith leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. “I’m with Oxi on this one.”

Luck looked betrayed. “You too?”

“You kneed me in the kidney last night.”
