“So, how have you been?” I focused my attention on Sillas. “How’s university?”

We could have a normal five-minute conversation. We were adults, though there was no need to push my luck too much.

“Well, I was promoted to full-time professor.”

“Sillas, that’s amazing!” I grinned at him. “Congratulations! When do you start?”

“Thanks! Next seme—”

Snap.

We both swiveled on our stools.

A broken cue rested in a large, familiar pair of hands. Shocked, my eyes climbed from the splintered halves to a face filled with rage and betrayal.

I folded my arms. Unbelievable.

Logan dropped the cue on the floor and sauntered over with apparent ease.

“I, um…” Sillas cleared his throat. “Not going to steal her from you, man.”

“As if you could.” He let out a humorless huff.

“Sillas, I’m sorry for—”

“Don’t. Look. At. Her.” Logan’s eyes never left mine. A chair scraped loudly across the floor as he brushed past it.

I folded my arms. “Apologize to Sillas for what you did at the game.”

His incredulous look was photo-worthy. “No way!”

“I should fetch another beer. Talk later.” Sillas almost squeezed my shoulder, thought better of it, and retreated in the opposite direction.

Logan came right at me and leaned down, hot breath in my ear. “Listen to me.” He gently strummed his fingers against the side of my neck. “Just because I’m giving you time doesn’t mean I have the capacity to let other guys—”

My hands clenched into fists. “What makes you think I need time?”

His silver eyes widened then narrowed. “If I marked you right now”—his lips pressed on my weak spot—“you’d let me?”

My eyes shut, my pulse stumbling, and I nodded once.

He sucked on the mark spot, grazing my skin. That’s it. He’s going to—

“And you’d be fine missing out on classes? Your hospital shift?”

“Huh?” My eyes flew open.

He was evaluating me, his nostrils flaring. “Little doctor, a lycan mark can put you on life support.”

What?! “How do you know that? That can’t be true!” I smacked his hands away from me.

“I don’t,” he grunted viciously. “But I’m not risking you because of my fuckery.”

“I see…” I rose onto my tiptoes. “But I can still mark you though, can’t I?”

A look of disbelief came over him. “I…you…you want to…?”

He took two steps back and I followed. “Aww, are you blushing?”
