I could have told her I was still hearing her thoughts, that she’d need to shield them from now on, but for right now at least, they were helpful.

“Mmm, you know, my love, you smell so good,” I said with a small smirk, and her shoulders relaxed. See? Useful.

When I buried my face against her chest, she dissolved into giggles. “Logan! You need to shave!”

“Shave?” I rubbed a hand over my jaw, feeling a little stubble. “It didn’t seem to bother your sweet puss—”

“Shh!” Both of her hands clamped over my mouth.

I grinned against her palms.

We’d entered a whole new stage of our relationship. And I fully intended to make the most of it, embarrassment included, because it looked too fucking cute on her.

I wanted to memorize everything about her, down to every freckle and eyelash, every expression she made when she was happy, flustered, or pretending not to be.

I licked my lips. I had work to do. Better start now.

YVAINE

“Logan! Do you hear me?” I wagged a finger in front of his face.

He caught it and pressed a kiss to the tip. “Hear what?” he asked, his voice huskier.

“Why are you looking at me like that? You look creepy!”

“Creepy, you say?” he murmured, his hand sliding up to squeeze my waist.

His silver eyes roamed over me with unsettling intensity, his tongue licking his lips. A low growl rolled through his chest, possessive enough to make every tiny hair on my body stand at attention.

He looked starved.

“Logan…” I laughed, a little nervous about this side of my mate.

He blinked twice, as though surfacing from somewhere else, then sighed with a sheepish smile. “Sorry.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “You take away all my good judgment.”

I rolled onto my stomach, propping myself on my elbows, while he mirrored me on his side. “Do I?”

He hummed and leaned forward, brushing his lips against mine.

“I never noticed you had much good judgment to begin with.”

“I’ve always had good judgment,” he said, with no trace of irony.

A breath later, I found myself flat on my back. Logan’s teeth sank into the soft flesh below my right breast and trailed up. I yelped and sighed when he rained tiny kisses all over it.

“Judging from our position, Bunny Doc…” He lifted his face with that predatory smile. “I’d say my judgment looks better than yours.”

I laughed, tunneling my fingers through his hair. “Fine. You win this round.”

He gave another warm chuckle. “I always win.”

I rolled my eyes and pecked his cheek.

“Anyway, I was about to ask, before you distracted me—” His fingertips stroked down my skin, distracting me. “If you want a shower.”

“That’d be lovely.”

He rose in one fluid move, pulling me up with him. My legs wobbled. I was sore—Logan-sore.
