“No dislocated hip?”

She giggled. “Negative.”

“No pain?”

“No. I feel stretched…but that’s normal.”

I didn’t like that answer.

Why is it normal for her? Have all her ex-losers made her feel this way? Fuck. I grunted to myself, taking out a clean sheet and a woolen blanket big enough for both of us.

“What are you muttering about over there, you grumpy old man?” she inquired, eyebrow lifting.

“Nothing…”

Yvaine sobered, probably because of my frown. “Logan, you know…” She bit her lip. “I never had, um, multiple orgasms in a row before you.”

And just like that, the grin returned to my lips.

“And you…?” she asked, playing with the hem of a pillow.

“I…what?”

“Was it better for you with me? Since we are mates? Statistically, the—”

“Of course not,” I said honestly.

She looked like a kicked puppy, so I hurried to explain. “I don’t have anything to compare it to.” Her eyes widened. “It was the first time I made love with someone.”

It was the truth. Up until her, I’d never loved anyone. Hooking up with girls had been a mix of consensual entertainment and natural urges. I’d never even fucked anyone missionary style before her. Not that I’d actively bring that up.

“You sure you don’t need anything?” I asked as I padded back to her. “Water? A snack? Medical attention?”

“Just cuddles. Come here and give them to me.”

I chuckled, lifting her into the low armchair. “Yes, ma’am. Sometimes your orders are easy to follow.”

I yanked off the dirty sheets, threw them onto the floor, and made the bed. Then I deposited her back underneath the covers, slipped in beside her, and pulled the blanket over us. Finally, I gathered my needy mate against my chest.

Yvaine shifted so half of her body was on top of me. I heaved out a sigh. She was so beautiful, her flawless skin like cream, her long hair spilling over me like my new favorite blanket.

She was wearing a knowing grin. “You’re really cute sometimes.”

“Cute?” I screwed up my nose, eliciting a giggle from her.

“Lucy made that exact face when I called him cute!”

Fantastic. I’d just been compared to that ugly beast.

“Whoop, whoop,” I deadpanned. “And why exactly am I cute?”

Yvaine twirled a strand of my hair around her finger. “That’s a secret. If I tell you, you might stop, and I can’t allow that.”

I found her reasoning amusing. “If you say so, but can’t you call me something else?”

“Cuddle provider?”

“Um, let me think about it…” I tapped a finger on my chin. “Nope.”
