Logan shut his eyes and cursed under his breath. “I can’t believe you’re Teresa.”

“No, Lolo!” Mrs. Tina laughed. “She’s my star! Teresa is the other sweetheart I work with. Our human friend.” She turned to me, saying more softly, “I’m sorry for not wanting to meet you, Star. Had I known it was you…”

“Star?” He blinked, and understanding dawned. “Gran has been calling you Star this whole time but I always thought the girl she wanted me to meet was Teresa! How was I supposed to know it was you? Comet has thousands of people, and the hospital where you two volunteer at is huge!”

True, but that doesn’t justify him coming here to meet who he thought was a random woman!

I slapped him, hard, and received a grunt. My new lycan strength had its advantages.

He rubbed his cheek. “Come on, Bunny—”

“Lolo, we eat rabbits! I made a stew just last night. Would you like to take some home, my dear Star?” Mrs. Tina beamed at me and I nodded at her with the best smile I could muster.

“Grandma, can you give us a minute alone? You’ve done enough damage already.”

“Of course!” Her eyes widened. “I need to light candles and thank the Moon Goddess!”

And just like that, she was gone. I loved the old woman, who was strangely similar to my own grandmother. The only problem I had with her right now was her grandson.

“Have I told you how radiant you look today?” Logan approached me with caution, like I was a dangerous animal. Maybe I was.

“No.”

“Well, today you’re just so radia—”

“Oh, save it!”

He tried to hug me.

I stepped away.

“Stop using the sparks to calm me down!”

“But I missed you today.”

“Not that much since you were planning to see some other girl!”

“That girl is you!”

Scooping me up, he settled me on the counter, pulling my legs around him and burying his face into my neck. I huffed, my palms landing on his broad shoulders and pushing him back.

“You know how much I don’t give a damn about other girls…” He looked up, hitting me with a dazzling smile. “Why would I, when I already have the best one?”

Not good enough.

Ruby’s growl came straight from my lips. My lycan wasn’t happy that our mate had done this. He should have told me. Told us.

“You know what? I’ll take the medical volunteering position with the werewolf league! Yes. I’ll professionally touch injured males!”

“Professionally touch…” he repeated incredulously. “To hell with that!”

“You go to hell!”

“Careful, Bunny Doc…” His hand spanned my throat, stroking it with the pad of his thumb. “You might be a lycan now, but I’m still the Terminator.”

That did it.

In a flash, Ruby burst forward.
