Logan squared up to Lachlan and slammed his hand on his shoulder. Anyone else would’ve ended up with a dislocated limb.
“Since I caught you like a hen on the run, I declare we won.”
“This is the kind of insolence that adds to your cheating reputation.” Lachlan poked at Logan’s chest.
“Careful, freckles. Just because you’re my mate’s twin doesn’t mean I won’t hesitate to smash your skull in if you disrespect me again.” With that, Logan slapped his hand away.
“Is that a threat, Terminator?” Lachlan went right up into his face.
“Only if you want it to be, Highlander.”
They were ridiculous.
“Are they about to kiss?” I heard Anna ask. She sounded excited.
“Okay, enough. Shut up, you two!”
They both glanced down at me. Reaching up, I massaged the spaces between their furrowed eyebrows. “As your mate and twin”—I looked back and forth between them—“you two must become friends. I demand it.”
“Friends?” the two spat at the same time. Again.
“You’re delusional, Yvaine!” My name on Logan’s lips sent shivers down my spine.
“Yeah, you must’ve gotten hit in the head, sis.”
“Nah, it was my mind-blowing kiss, Islander.”
“Disgusting!”
Logan showed him his wiggling tongue.
Lachlan kicked more mud at him.
I stomped my foot.
“Shhh!” I got in between the two giants, who were glaring at each other above my head. The air was charged with electricity. “Now, hug each other!” I took a step back, gesturing for them to follow my request.
They looked at me like I had grown an extra head.
“No way!” Lachlan sneered.
“I don’t wanna catch scabies!”
“If anyone catches anything, it’d be me with all the diseases you carry!”
“Between us? For sure, virgin boy.” Logan’s snicker died out when he caught my bemused look.
“At least I don’t need the hands of my whole wereball team to count all the women I’ve shagged! Yvaine, shouldn’t you be mad at him? He lied to you for weeks while he slept around.” Lachlan should have studied law. My father always said, He knows how to poke at an open wound.
Though my mate wasn’t all that different.
“Why don’t you go call your invisible girlfriend, Islander? Oh, wait! You can’t!” Logan tapped his temple. “Cause she’s mated with my friend!”
Was Logan talking about Amaia? She and I had talked twice since I came to Scotland. Dear Amaia had left out the little detail that her mate was Logan’s friend.
Lachlan’s face turned a splotchy, angry red, a trace of pain entering his eyes. “At least I respect women! You made Ludmilla, Camilla, Priscilla, and all the other -illas cry!”
My lips pursed. Every girl’s name, all from my pack, was another stab in the heart.
