“Would they hop around like bunnies?”
“Stop!”
“Why? Are you shy?” he cooed, squishing my cheeks between his hands like I was the future baby we’d have.
He chuckled when I batted his hands away. “But imagine! If my brother and your sister are mates, then we—”
“They aren’t!”
“They might be!” I tapped his nose. “And now, be quiet.”
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
YVAINE
Logan and I emerged from the arrival gate and my attention snagged on a tall girl holding a cardboard sign that read, WELCOME BACK, BABY THOR! Two pink heart-shaped balloons bobbed above it.
She’d inherited the unmistakable Draven traits: impossible silver eyes, ash-blonde hair in a high ponytail, and fiercely beautiful. She was wearing an oversized Dark Diamond T-shirt with the number 3 on the front—like Lachlan’s!—sparkly blue leggings accentuating legs that went straight to heaven and back, and a golden snake bracelet coiled around her toned bicep. She had to be at least five-foot-nine.
“There’s Bellatrix,” Logan said.
I glanced up just in time to catch the faintest blush warming his cheek. “Aww.” I poked it. “Baby Thor.”
Logan scowled, a hand on my backpack strap swinging from his shoulder. “Yeah, my pack calls me that, minus the baby.”
“I’d rather call you Loki.”
“Call me Loki again and Bunny Doc is gone forever.”
I gasped. “That’s my official nickname! Actually, there’s too much history attached to it, so you wouldn’t, Loki.” I yelped when both his index fingers jabbed my ribs before he stole a quick kiss.
Our eyes locked. His head tilted to the left.
I’d started noticing little things Logan shared with Lucien. Both tilted their heads to the left, never right; their upper lip curled on the left corner; and whenever something bothered them, a tiny twitch appeared under their right eye. My sixth sense told me it was too soon to bring Lucien up again. I’d missed Lucien this past week, but my promise to him was tucked safely in the folds of my heart.
A shriek distracted me. Bellatrix catapulted herself on Logan, who caught her with both arms.
She bombarded his face with kisses. “Missed you, Baby Thor!”
Logan shielded himself from the attack but failed.
My cheeks ached from smiling. Seeing them together uncovered another piece of him I’d never met. That genuine affection from his sister and the slight embarrassment in Logan, the little brother? Yes, one heart was definitely not enough to hold all my emotions.
Logan peeled himself free with a sheepish smile, Bellatrix’s arms still clinging to his waist. “Trix.” He patted her head. “This is my mate. Bunny Doc.”
I blushed. Couldn’t he have introduced me with my actual name?
Bellatrix looked at me.
I looked at her.
Logan’s anticipation disappeared. “Well? Speak!”
More silence. This reunion wasn’t unfolding the way he’d imagined.
“This—is—my—sister”—he pointed at Bellatrix—“and—this—is—my—mate.” His hand landed on my head as he accentuated each word, as if we’d suddenly become deaf and couldn’t understand him.
Recognition struck us at exactly the same time. Two strong arms wrapped around me, one giant snake earring smacking my cheek. “Oh my Goddess! I’m so happy it’s you! I knew we clicked that night! I knew it!”
