“Zari!”

“Girl, that man just put money in your account to furnish your house, and you talking about, ‘No, Rome, you’ve done enough.’”

I pitched my voice higher to imitate her.

Sol’s eyes narrowed.

“I do not sound like that.”

“Yes, you do.”

“I don’t want him thinking he has to do everything for me.”

“He clearly don’t think he has to. He wants to.”

“That doesn’t mean I have to take it.”

I put both hands on my hips.

“Okay. Then send it to me.”

Sol stared at me.

I stared back.

“Exactly.”

Her lips twitched.

“That’s not funny.”

“I’m dead serious. If we turning down blessings today, redirect them.”

That did it.

Sol laughed and covered her face.

I grabbed my purse.

“Come on.”

“Where are you going?”

“To the furniture store. I wasn’t lying to that man.”

“We still have boxes outside!”

“Then let’s hurry up.”

She shook her head, still smiling.

I pointed toward her phone.

“And check your account.”

“No.”

“Check it.”
