“Callie…”

She was a woman on a mission, and she would not be deterred. The laser focus she applied to her work, she now applied to pleasuring him. She employed every technique from every women’s magazine article she’d ever read on the subject, and she was rewarded with enthusiastic groans and sighs.

It wasn’t long before he shouted, “Coming!” If it was meant as a warning, she didn’t heed it. She kept working him until she’d wrung out every drop of pleasure. When she finally released him, he looked at her like he’d never seen her before.

“Did I surprise you again?” she teased.

“Always.”

Always. She liked the sound of that.

Chapter 36

Chase had it bad. After spending the past few days wrapped up in Callie’s arms, he’d had to give her up, and he was already missing her. Callie’s friend Quinn had come to visit, and Callie had left his bed earlier that morning to meet her at the airport.

He’d offered to accompany her, but she’d declined, promising they’d get together while Quinn was there so she could introduce them. While he was honored that she wanted him to meet her best friend, all he could think about was how their time was running out. They only had ten days left on the island, and he wanted to spend them with her—alone.

He chided himself for being selfish, especially since Callie had been so accommodating when his sister had come to visit. But a lot had changed since then. He and Callie had hardly been apart since Miranda had left, and he’d been loving every minute of it.

The first time Callie had spent the night, he could hardly wait for her to awaken the next morning. He’d lain on his side and watched her sleep, her eyelids fluttering and a slight smile on her face like she was having a good dream.

She’d been wearing one of his white T-shirts with nothing underneath, and when she shifted to face him, he saw the distinct outline of her nipples through the material. He resisted the urge to reach out and touch her since they’d stayed up late the night before and she probably needed rest. But she moved again, and the sheet dipped down to expose the tops of her bare thighs.

This time, he couldn’t resist. He gently grazed his fingertips up one thigh and down the other, reveling in the feel of her smooth, warm skin.

Then he softly brushed her lips with his. Her eyes popped open, and she gave him a sleepy smile.

“Morning,” he said, his voice thick with desire.

She laid a hand on his bare chest. “Mmm. Morning.”

“Didn’t think you were ever gonna wake up.”

“I was dreaming.”

“What about?”

“You. Us.”

He scooted closer so their hips were aligned, and she wriggled against his erection. “Details, please.”

“It’s kind of fuzzy. But you were caressing my thigh, gliding your finger up and down but stopping short of…”

“Like this?” He repeated what he’d done a minute ago, and she sighed.

“Yes.”

“Then what?”

“Then you kissed me, but it was so light and gentle I barely felt it.”

“Like this?” He brushed his lips over hers with a bit more pressure this time.

“Um-hmm.”

“Then what?”

“Then my nipples tightened under your T-shirt, and you stared at them and licked your lips.”
