Creston sneered. “We’ll see if Monroe takes you.”
Ooh, extra pissy today. All the more reason to blow off his appointment.
“Where are you going now?” Creston asked, looking at the bags Noah was carrying. Extra clothes for himself, Mina and Brock—all of them except his own liberated from the Nashville storerooms.
“None of your damned business,” Noah said pleasantly. “I’ll be back tomorrow, though, to meet with Monroe and Travis. So you won’t miss your opportunity to give me a kiss bye bye.”
Creston’s eyebrows went up. “Jesse Travis is coming here tomorrow? That’s…unexpected.”
Why the fuck should he care? “Something came up,” Noah said.
“May I ask what?”
“Sure.”
Creston waited a few beats, then gritted his teeth and asked, “What is it that came up?”
“Found another little house in the woods,” Noah said. “Made of brick this time, so I needed backup to huff and puff and, well, you know. We’ll bring you back some roast piggy, though.”
He pushed past Creston and started towards the front door, leaving him standing in the hall. After a few steps he turned back. “Oh, and Creston?”
The other man turned to look at him.
“Ever manage to get laid?” Noah asked.
Creston’s eyes flashed gold.
“Didn’t think so,” Noah said, and walked off.
