And when the song ended, he felt a cold nose against his front leg, briefly, and then, I go.

There was a shimmer and a faint cracking of bones, and Trish was on the ground in front of him, naked, her hair shining under the moon.

Chapter 25

Trish woke up naked. In the dark. On the edge of a cliff.

With the Darkwing Dragon looming over her. At least, he was for a minute. By the time she got her shit together, the dragon was gone and Emon was there.

“Where are we?” she asked. As usual, she had no memory of what had happened when she Changed. But she had a strange feeling of well-being, like she was tired but she’d used her body well. And she was… happy.

She-Wolf was happy. Trish could not ever remember that happening before. She hoped they hadn’t killed anyone.

“We’re about ten miles from the castle,” Emon said.

His eyes were human, not dragon, but she could still see a tiny bit of lightning in their depths. “You’re not bleeding,” she noted. “That’s a good sign. How’d it go?”

A breeze ran across her body, and Trish felt her nipples pucker.

It was dark, but she could swear she saw an answering bulge inside Emon’s black pants. Or maybe that was a shadow? It was hard to tell in the dark.

He cleared his throat. “Are you looking at my dick?”

“What? Me? No.”

Her eyes shot up to his face. Which looked sexy and mysterious in the moonlight. Except for the smirk at the corner of his mouth.

“In case you were wondering, that is a boner. In my pants. Want to see it?”

She did want. She was feeling crazy and night-wild, and she wanted to wrap him around her and feel his heat, feel him hot and wild inside her, driving her to the edge.

But she wanted to hear about her wolf even more.

“Not right now, if you don’t mind.” Another breeze came by, making her shiver. “You know, if you were a gentleman you’d have offered me your shirt. Because it’s cold.”

“You know I can do better than that.”

He moved toward her and put his hands on her shoulders. They were warm and strong, and just that one touch sent the warmth pulsing all the way through her. Her nipples ached, and her sex, and she felt the fire in the middle of her chest.

He bent his head and brushed his lips ever so lightly across hers. Then an energy radiated from his hands, and she was suddenly dressed.

All in black—black long-sleeved t-shirt, black jacket, black jeans. Probably black underwear—it felt like silk.

“I still can’t get over how you can just, you know. Abracadabra clothes for whoever you’re touching.” She snapped her fingers.

“Dragon magic. Don’t ask me how we ended up with that particular ability, because I have no fucking idea.”

That had been her next question, but clearly no answer.

Trish looked down at herself. “Why black?” she asked. “To match you? Because that would be semi-adorable, in a serial-killer-couple kind of way.”

He laughed, then shrugged. “To fit in with the night,” he said. He paused, and added, “And your wolf would like it.”

“You talked to my wolf?”

He nodded. “We went for a run. I mean, she ran and I flew, but we were together.”

Trish was so stunned she had to sit down. “She didn’t attack you? She actually decided it would be fun to hang out and not bite you to death?”
