“Excuse me?” Remy said. “She’s my mate, and I’m perfectly capable of buying her shit.”

“It’s true,” Callie told Jaeda. “He has money. Make him buy you things.”

Remy said, “I’m happy to buy her all the things she wants, although I have no fucking clue where we’re going to put them on account of all the crap you already bought for this place.”

Kitty and Callie converged on Remy, each of them kissing him on one cheek. “You love us,” they said in unison.

“Go away,” Remy muttered, but she could tell he adored them both. This was a good place, and a good, tight crew with a strong alpha. She already liked it here.

The others all left them alone, and Jaeda finally got a chance to really look at the suite. It had a large living area with a dining table to the side, and a kitchenette with a small island.

“This is super-cool,” she said. “You can hang out downstairs with the others, or you can be private.”

She could see a powder room and a hallway that probably led to the bedroom. Maybe more than one. It was homey and comfortable, but it looked… off, somehow. “How long have you lived here?” she asked.

“You don’t like it?”

“Are you kidding? It’s great. It just… I don’t know. It doesn’t look quite like you. More like someone else decorated it.”

Remy grimaced and motioned to the shopping bags. “They did—the Shopping Channel Twins. Out of pity for my bachelorhood. You can change anything you want—hell, you can redecorate the whole thing, if you feel like it. Wall-to-wall organizers.”

She laughed. “That’s silly. It’s too expensive. Except for the organizers, of course. Those are worth every dime.”

Remy came over and put his arms around her. “Callie was serious,” he told her. “I have plenty of money. You can change anything you want. The stuff we don’t want can go in the guest suites, when we finish them.”

Wow. That wasn’t what she expected either. Jaeda had always worked; she’d never even considered that Remy might support her, let alone indulge her every whim. The fact that he wanted to made her feel all squishy inside.

“Cool,” she said, wrapping her arms around his neck. She still wasn’t used to being able to touch him any time she wanted, and it was amazing. “Then I definitely want organizers. Ooh! And a pony! I always wanted a pony. But ponies and wolves… not a good match. So…”

Remy laughed. “As long as we keep the pony in the guest suite. I’m not having it drinking all my beer.” He ran his hands up and down her back. “How are you feeling? Not dizzy? Not leopard-y?”

“Not either one. I’m nothin’ but a normal blob girl.”

“You know blobs are my favorite.” He kissed her, slow and sweet. “So you ended up the mate of a shifter after all,” he said softly. “Are you sorry?”

“No.” She was happy. Her perfectly planned life was in ruins, and somehow she was happy. “Not sorry.” She kissed him again, then added, “And I’m a shifter now, too. My mom and dad will shit little leopards when they hear.”

Remy said, “Yeah. I really would prefer not to be within a hundred miles of that announcement, if you don’t mind. Please remember we’re keeping it to ourselves until we know what’s going on with you? Because I don’t want to end up dead or in shifter jail before we even have the chance to fuck again.”

No. Her dad definitely could not know this. Not until Brock had it figured out.

“What’s going on with me is I’m a leopard.” So, so weird. She’d always assumed that if she ever Changed, she’d be a wolf. “I want to Change again.”

Remy said immediately, “No Changing. God.”

“Not even a little?” She really wanted to. It had been so wild. “Just a whisker?”

“No.” Remy sighed. “I can tell you’re going to be a total handful.”

“I know, right?” Jaeda said. “And when I was growing up, I was such a good little girl. You must be a bad influence on me.”

“You spend all your life hanging out with Michelangela Connors, the hellion of the century, and I’m the bad influence? I don’t think so.”

“Yep. Your fault entirely.”

“In that case, I’m taking you to bed, so I can continue to corrupt you.”

“I’m unable to resist your influence.”
