“Because she’s family,” Dave corrects him, then looks to me.

We don’t win, but the guys go out for the third not as a pissed off group of players, but as a team. We manage to tie up the game, and I have never loved these guys more.

Chapter Seventy-Four

Madison

Punch some things

Owen left before I woke up, but I’ve been in his bed for the past hour, watching videos and reading articles about last night.

“Fight Breaks Out at College Hockey Game Between Trevor Milligan, son of Milligan CEO, Curtis Milligan, and Owen Glass-Brooks, son of legendary actor, Christopher Glass, Over a Girl”

There are one or two that imply I’m looking on in horror because my boyfriend turned violent, but most paint it as a love triangle and put all the blame on me, not Trevor, who was drafted by Vegas, or Owen, for whom they say this is completely out of character.

Clearly all my fault.

Even if the headlines aren’t all so obvious about it, the comments leave no doubt. I shouldn’t read them, but Owen warned me Devon Pruitt is the boy who got injured and I go down a rabbit hole trying to see how bad it was. Either way, it doesn’t look good for my internship.

I want to stay in bed and see if I can disappear under the covers, but my phone buzzes with a text, and I immediately grab it to see if it’s Owen with news.

Sav

Who’s up for kickboxing?

Bree

Way too hungover. Who’s idea was it to have margaritas?

Tab

Miss Mabel. I need her recipe.

Michael says @Madison’s still in the room. They’re cooking to lure her out but are all too chickenshit to knock on the door.

Sorry, he calls it considerate.

Me

You’ve all seen the headlines?

Bree

We’ve seen worse, right Sav?

Reporters are assholes.

Except you, obviously.

Tab

Love your articles!

Me

Tabloids do suck.
